So... news just in!
Due to the blackouts, 3 of SOPA's supporters have dropped out.
So yaaaay!

More info here-

Now, what do you think?
Is this good? Is this bad?
Does it even make a difference?

Fuck yes. Fuck yes. Fuck yes.

That's a huge victory, considering the progress to date. I mean, it's nowhere near enough, but this is a huge step in the right direction. This is even more proof that, when we really put our minds to it, the Internet can really impact government policy.

The fight is far from over, though.

It's nice how this blackout already seems to make bit of a difference!

Now imagine if this blackout would have reached even further.

Then we EXPOSE their corruptio-

*is dragged away by men in suits and is never seen again*
I believe Bill Hicks summed up corruption in the American political system rather well:

"When you win, you go into this smoke-filled room with the twelve industrialist capitalist scum-fucks who got you in there. And you're in this smoky room, and this little film screen comes down ? and a big guy with a cigar goes, "Roll the film." And it's a shot of the Kennedy assassination from an angle you've never seen before ? that looks suspiciously like it's from the grassy knoll. And then the screen goes up and the lights come up, and they go to the new president, "Any questions?"

I'm glad to see the blackout is having some effect. I just hope more see the light and drop their support for these ridiculous bills.

I am reminded of the King of Rohan from the Lord of the Rings shouting "WE HAVE VICTORY!"
Granted SOPA is still a very serious danger to the internet but it's just nice to so a protest doing something for once.

SOPA is dead because the house leadership withdraw support for it. The Democratic control Senate is a different matter.

Sorry man, not quite yet.
It's coming back in February, and there's still PIPA to worry about.

Sadly I've seen similar comments to this too many times today.

SOPA is not dead as another member said in response to your post. We need to stay informed and keep up the fight lest those in power try and pull the wool over our eyes.
