My sister has a 360 that's gathering dust. I felt that it'd be a waste not to use it, thus I plan to plug the thing to my PC monitor. I have been doing some research, but still a tad confused on what to get exactly, especially for my computer headset so that I get audio.

My PC monitor is a DELL S2340L: http://www.dell.com/ed/business/p/dell-s2340l/pd

Since there is only one monitor, I definitely would like to use the 360 and PC at the same time. I assume I can simply switch it from the monitor menu button if I have the PC plugged with the HDMI and the 360 with the VGA port, or do I buy a HDMI switch?

I have two headsets, one is the Razer Megalodon and the other is the Creative Fatality MK2 headset which I have not put on for a year now. I would like to use it again for any purely audio only, no voice chat.

So yeah, I need a little advice to guide me along here. Thanks!

When you say 'monitor menu button' do you mean that you can actively select which signal you want to choose? If so, then yeah, you should be able to switch between HDMI and VGA and you won't need an HDMI signal splitter.

How do both the Razer Megalodon and the Creative Fatality MK2 connect for audio?

*EDIT* Also, I'm assuming you have the VGA cable for 360, correct?

I think this is the cheapest solution. This will allow you to plug in both your 360 (VGA) and PC (HDMI) into the same monitor, plus it will allow you to use your Creative headset with the 360 and save your Razer for your PC. I don't like using HDMI splitter boxes because the good ones cost so much you could just buy another monitor.

#2) Y Adapter, $6.40 [http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Adapter-Stereo-Headphone-Splitter/dp/B0047T79M2/ref=sr_sp-atf_title_1_2?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1373308492&sr=8-2&keywords=3.5mm+audio+splitter]
#3) Stereo jack (3.5mm) to RCA female, $2.33 [http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Plated-Stereo-Splitter-Adaptor/dp/B004C4SSFE/ref=sr_sp-atf_title_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1373308567&sr=1-1&keywords=Splitter-3.5mm+Jack+to+2-RCA]
#4) Overpriced Monster brand 360 VGA cable, $25 [http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Monster-GameLink-Cable/dp/B000BTICMS/ref=sr_sp-btf_title_1_6?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1373308622&sr=8-6&keywords=360+vga]

The only reason to do this is because you have one HDMI and one VGA input for your monitor. I know this will work because it's how I used to have mine set up. I got tired of it so I just bought another monitor instead.

I would avoid generic 360 VGA cables because I would rather pay more for something that's guaranteed to work well.

Remember, I think this is the cheapest solution, not the best solution :P

Thank you for replying! (Just woke up for school, I do apologize for the late response.)

Yeah, that's what I meant about the "monitor menu button".

About the HDMI switchers, I agree and my friend does too. But damn, I'm already rather broke from having to build my own custom PC, another monitor is just asking to get whacked by my parents, despite that it would be great to have another one. Thanks for your help btw, especially with the illustration above, really helps to make things clearer. I'll see if I can get those when I go shopping next time. Bloody Microsoft, making this so troublesome. :p

My apologies. I just realized you should skip step #2 and save a few dollars. You can just plug in the "headset" jack from your headset and it will still be in stereo for both ears. Sorry if I'm being confusing. I just verified this again.
