http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/news/a223870/nintendo-3ds-as-powerful-as-360-and-ps3.html

The upcoming 3DS is apparently on par with the 360 and PS3 in terms of horsepower making it Nintendo's most powerful console ever.

Fallout 3, GTA 4, Dragon age on the move possibly?

I'd be sceptical of those claims untill either more information is revealed or the release of the console itself.

How many Processors does the PS3 have again? Seriously, it's like 8 or 6 right?

Until it's reveal, I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!

Calumon: And I'll believe that Luigi is going to star in his own new game series! ^^

Meaning that nintendo will use that hardware to make shit 3d rather than run high end titles.

Also, I doubt this is true anyways.

That's incredible if true. Also humiliating for the Wii, "high horse power for our current console? Hell no!" "Horse power on par with our competitors consoles, but on a handheld? Hell yes!"

Still don't really get the "3DS" Thing, I mean I get the pun; but "DS" stands for Dual screen, so shouldn't "3DS" mean it has 3 dual screens, making it a 6 screen console?

I'd be surprised if it was on par with the Wii, much less the Playstation 3. I think we're another 3-5 years off a handheld reaching that level of processor power.

I know technology moves fast, but the PS3 and X360 are both a lot larger than a hand held console, and now you're telling me a hand held is invented 4 years later that will out-process both of them? Jeez... Nintendo. This is something you could have given us with the WII!

Even more powerful than a Wii? I'm sorry but I've gotta say bullshit

I know the graphics on the Wii aren't exactly outstanding but they are better than a DS's

Maybe more powerful than any hand held device but that's not what was said

I remember the last time Nintendo tried to make 3d gaming handheld...

Virtual Boy... At least it won't be something you strap to your head and look like a massive toolbox while playing it.

Or will it.

Yes..and when Nintendo says that their HANDHELD is more powerful than their actual Console, I think that says something about the ****ty-ness of the Wii, eh?

My God, will they stop dishing out DS remakes and create an actually good console that doesn't have graphic issues. seriously, way too many DS remakes.

I suppose the 3 and the S could be sharing the D, making it 3DDS (can anyone else tell by the post how much I am trying to avoid revision?)

He already has Luigi's Mansion and Mario is Missing, what more can he ask for?
Although, I doubt that Nintendo's consoles will compete with the 360 and PS3 in terms of power.
I'll still buy it, however. Because I'm quite the Nintendo fanboy.

A single huge one that is partitioned and has 6 different caches. Better suited for number crunching then gaming, huge bandwidth, poor clock speed. A different design with the same power could still be a massive performance boost for running games, at the cost of not being good at f@h [http://folding.stanford.edu/] and stuff like that.

Even then consoles are still bottlenecked by woefully underpowered videocards, fixing that would give you results much closer to current PC's then throwing in more CPU power that isn't going to get used anyway.

Lastly, airflow. Consoles, like laptops are underclocked and thus perform slower then their direct counterparts in PC hardware because there simply isn't enough room for heat dissipation in those tiny cases when running at full power.

Nintendo could make a more powerful console but they will have to choose between a reasonable price and making it portable. PDAs are getting close to consoles in terms of power but the high end models cost a lot. Or they can make it "portable" like an Alienware laptop that requires a cooling dock and has barely enough battery power to boot up.

If that's true then I would imagine that it would both shine with the same brightness and radiate with the same heat of the sun. I think Nintendo is asking us to step in their Hyperbolic lie chamber.
