i just finished max payne 1 and would like some other games like it. max payne is the first 3rd person shooter i played in years beside hitman. i am not crazy for 1st person shooters and survival horror games. i just want to play a different style of games. i am not a tactics type of gamer. i am more of a rambo kills all that moves type of gamer. by the way i have all the hitman games. i also got max payne 2.

Gears of War 2 is probably one of the best third-person-shooters there is. Resident Evil 4 is also great (it's my favorite game!).

Oooh! Rogue Trooper if you can find it! It's based on the 2000AD comic Rogue Trooper and the plot such as it is, is fun if a little off at times.

I find it difficult to recommend being that I didn't enjoy it, but you sound as if you'd really like Gears of War. And from the fact that you like Hitman, I'd suggest trying out a few more "tactics" games, because from my understanding, Hitman is more stealth/tactics than TPS. The Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon games are a good place to start.

While Dead Space calls itself survival horror, it hardly qualifies. It's more of a 3rd person shooter with the horror aesthetic. Regardless, it's pretty solid for the most part, and shooting enemies limbs off is pretty fun; so if you're willing to overlook its attempt to be a horror game you might enjoy it.

Dark Sector is a servicable shooter and it offers up some awesome powers for you to use against a lot of guys in gas masks, some mutants, and a few interesting bosses.

Gears of War 1,2 both understand the definition of 'cinematic gaming' I'll give 'em that.

Or Wanted: Weapons of Fate. It is short but intense as hell
Played the demo. It felt a lot like Dark Sector, only less polished, and instead of the Glaive, you could bend bullets. I'll take the Glaive.

If you got a PS2 or N64, track down Winback: Covert Operations. That was one of my favorite games back in the day and was a pretty good TPS. You can't run and shoot so it's a lot like resident evil in manner BUT it has a cover system equal to that of gears of war. I don't care what anyone says, Winback created the first good cover system I know of before Gears did. It is a bit of a stealth action game too as there's a lot of sneaking and whatnot. So it's kinda like MGS meets Gears, and there is NOTHING wrong with that.

Regardless of the story, voice acting, media backlash, and shear ridiculousness of Army of Two, it's very fun if you're playing with a friend.

The only one I like that I have not seen recommended is Eat Led The Return of Matt Hazard. You get to kill zombies with a squirt gun.

the first mercenaries, not the second one

a great game if you use all the resources and allied soldiers at your disposal

Gears is great, and if you own a PS3, Uncharted is another great buy.

Max Payne 1 and 2.

I can't really think of any others that haven't been mentioned. Syphon Filters on PS/PS2, maybe.

Gah, I'm blanking.
