Lately, I've noticed some games on PC, such as the new Medal of Honor and Modern Warfare 2, cost $59.99, like their console counterparts. PC games have been at a standard ($49.99) for so long, do you see them bumping up their prices like some games have?

They are bumping up their prices. Because they should. More work, time, and money goes into making games these days.

....It will probably last, but PC gamers will ***** and moan and complain about how its SOOOoo expensive and it's just wrong to charge more for things.

Kinda like every other consumer in the world.

It's called inflation. We are going to see a metric fuck ton more of it in coming years.

I'm sure they won't go back down, but I don't agree with it being purely because production cost has gone up. I think they just realized they can get away with the price increase anyway, and almost all of the games in this price-range so-far for PC has made tons of money, that wouldn't have changed if it was at it's previous level.

Hmm, that'll be till they make 3D games, then they'll go to £60.

But you could wait for the price simmer, that happens about after a month.

The prices will go up. The cost to make a game now is enormous. PC games are not special, their price will go up, it's a matter of time.

Yeah, ill just wait for the game to go down in price in a month or so... or there's a 48 hour madness or steam sale :]

Although the fact that it was 10 bucks cheaper than most console games is a good reason to be a pc gamer.

I hope it won't stick, starting price at $49.99 are more than I will pay already, where I live the price is about $75. If the price is $59.99, again where I live it's $95 for a consol game, it will take even longer before the price is drop too $37, the max that I will pay for a game.

But most people don't care and will probably pay it, so yes I think it will last.

As long as what I'm paying for has an appropriate amount of content to make it worth the 60 bucks. That kind of why I prefer digital distribution anyways due to the lowered price, although I wish developers would take advantage of that so that we could do away with the waste generated from packaging/materials and the cost of being held in stores.

I feel the DRM kinda warrants a drop in price for most games now. With Assasin's Creed the console version is vastly superiour since you can just play it whenever ... instead of whenever the Ubisoft servers or your own connection is running at full capacity.

Plus I kinda hate price hikes since every other game, bar the really shitty budget titles, will be sixty dollars (or however much that is in pounds) too.

That extra $10 on console games is supposed to cover the licensing fees, something the PC doesn't have.
I think that depends on how the game was made. Someone mentioned MoH costs $60 on PC, probably because it was expensive to make, and it was built on the PS3, not on the PC.

Game publishers will rely on most people forgetting that. And suddenly you have a bunch of posts everywhere that say "what's the big deal, it should be the same price on all platforms."
