Nothing came up on the search bar so I hope I not just reposting this. I was just looking at the Destructoid site and came across this little nugget of news.

http://www.destructoid.com/battlefield-premium-does-800-000-subscriptions-in-2-weeks-230532.phtml

It seems despite all the complaints about EA's premium service, up to 800,000 gamers have signed onto the service making EA a tidy sum of money in the process. So how do you all feel about this? Personally I'm disappointed but not really surprised that people signed up to it and I am now bracing myself for this type of service to spill over into other games.

Well I was planning on getting all the DLC for BF3 anyways. So I don't see why it's so bad that I saved $10 compared to buying them separately, and got a bunch of bonuses.

Didn't you get the memo?
Everything EA does is evil, and anyone seen supporting them is to be ridiculed and laughed at.

This Battlefield Premium sounds exactly the same as what other companies advertise as 'Season Passes' - hardly a new phenomenom.

A lot of why I dislike 'Premium' is that, with BF3 predecessor Bad Company 2, if you bought the game new you were considered a VIP, and got a whole load of VIP content at no charge. With BF3, premium is essentially the same, but you have to pay for it. I'm not angry at them though, they exist to make money and there really is more important things in life than railing against some company because they didn't do exactly what you want.

What is wrong with it? Spending 50 Bucks, get all DLC and a few extras at a cheaper price. It is just a glorified Season Pass. I would buy it if I had the money (alas, I have none as I am buying Kingdom Hearts 3D and Theatrythm when they release).

People need to stop bitching about what EA does. Not EVERYTHING is evil you damned hippies.
I don't have a problem with the season pass part of the deal as that saves you money on the dlc. However the fact that you also pay preferential treatment when joining servers is something I do have a problem with.

Getting the DLC two weeks in advance isn't so bad either :)

Eh, that's debatable. There was 7 map packs right? I elieve it wasn't until Map pack #5 we actually got NEW maps like Cold War, Oasis, Heavy Metal, Harvest Day etc. the rest was just the older maps put into modes that just weren't there before. by the time Oasis came out I almost completly stoppwed playing until Vietnam came out.

I bought the DLC seperate, why? Because its probobly the only one I will get.

There wasn't enough close quarters based maps and this map fit perfectly for that. The rest of the packs don't have the appeal to what I am looking for, or the Scar-L.

I wont be signing up, but to each their own I guess. Not many games from EA I care for.

Your complaint is that there are stupid and easily fooled people out there? You're not going to have that resolved for qu-ite a while, buddy.
How is getting a discount on all the DLC we would otherwise buy seperately, 2 weeks early access and a bunch of other, less important goodies being "easily fooled"?

I know I'm going to be buying all the DLC because I love the game and I have faith in DICE. Not everyone does, but then, nobody's forcing us to buy it, are they? So I bought Premium and made a saving on DLC and got cool stuff to boot. You can argue all you want that I'm stupid and easily fooled for doing so, but it won't make any difference and you'd be petty for doing so.

I wish people would just stop jumping to conclusions about other people's choices. You (not you specifically, people in general) really think a whole 800,000 people are so stupid that they would buy something they wouldn't make a saving on? It's up to personal preference and if we want to buy their product, we will buy their product. Simple as.

Rant over. Hope I didn't offend you, Trollpwner, or anyone else. I did get a bit irritated there. :p

800,000 sheep lead to slaughter..

There is no way I would pay another $50 for server priority and a couple map packs on a game I just spent $60 bucks on less than a year ago. Especially since EA actually considered charging for virtual ammunition..

This. How is this sort of season pass type thing corrupting the industry again? That people who really enjoy and are still playing BF3 will pay money to get all of the dlc two weeks in advance with the total price being $10 less, while also adding tons of bonus content for those who buy it?

I would also like to point out that this is a one time purchase, unlike some other premiums out there *looks at mw3*. Unlike the cod franchise, battlefield games tend to last more than a single year, and thus this premium is not so much a service as booster packs purchased in advance. I point to the older battlefield games as examples of expansion packs and booster packs(purchased), and how similar they are to this premium "service".
bf1942: secret weapons, road to rome
bf2: special forces, boosters: euro force, armored fury (funny how they kinda used that name again)
bf2142: northern strike
bfbc2: vietnam

In short, I don't understand all the hate for Battlefield's premium service

Every expansion seems to have its own theme worth looking for.

Close Quarter: You know what it is
Armoured Kill: All our tank and Ariel vehicle combat
Aftermath: Possible dinosaur or Zombie mode since its about "Survival"
Endgame: Beats me.
