This is a story I've been cultivating in my mind for a while, and I finally decided to put in on the Escapist. Before you proceed, however, look up every definition of "Chimera" in the dictionary. It may help with understanding the plot. With the story, after the Prologue chapters, I'll let the readers push the story one way or another, seeing as I won't be able to write this all alone.
Now, first, I'm going to explain where I got the idea for the 9 Chimera's. The first time I heard the term Chimera being used biologically was when I was reading FullMetal Alchemist. The villains, or so it seems to me, were human chimera's. Read about it for more info. Anyways, after reading about that, a thought came to my head: "What if there were a group of Chimera's trying to survive from humanity?" I thought. I dismissed the thought. It came back to me very recently, when I was watching a trailer for some horror movie called "Orphan" or something. It brought back idea's of the Chimera story. The best part of this, was that there was a line that hit me: "You'll never guess her secret." So I mentally changed it, and the first idea's for the Chimera's were born.
Now, I present to you, the beginning of the Chimera's.
Just for fun, I edited the letters a bit. In the prologue, an O has been replaced with a 0, and vice versa. If you PM me the location, you might get an advantage with controlling the flow of the story? Maybe....
I'm going to write wherever I've edited below, and also when. Luckily the Escapist is only 5 minutes apart from the time on my computer...

I notice that NODOBY has commented at all on this thread, and I'm actually a bit offended. It's got quite a few views, and only 3 posts on the thread! Ah well, I guess I can't make you guys do what I want... but still, feel free to review my work! I'm an aspiring author, and this will be nice to see where I'm lacking.
A quick thanks to Gainax for Neon Genesis Evangelion and Furi-Kuri, which gave me the inspiration to continue tonight (it's 1:30 AM right now), and the makers of Claymore (Can't remember right now, too tired) as well. Watch it, my friends, watch it!
I've decided on how I will make this story an RP. It's essentially a battle of god-modding until I run out of scenario's for you guys, but remember: the character you're RPing must remain true to their personality, and I'm going to explain the personalities in the character boxes, just not yet.

Unfortunately, ZEYA-9-001 has died today. We all agreed that the biological layout of his DNA was too fragile. We decided to begin with a simpler combination: Human and bird DNA: the CHERON-1 model.

CHERON-1-001 has been born today, but we can tell something is wrong. He is calling out in pain, as if this combination of DNA were injuring him. I'm afraid he may die, and we must begin anew with CHERON.

It has been a while since I last wrote, but now something extraordinary has occurred! CHERON-1-084 was born, and we've predicted a lifespan of at least 60 years! This is good for us. Testing of his DNA has shown us something very odd: although he has 35% bird DNA in him, his physical appearance is totally human. The previous CHERON models weren't anything like this one. This should be an interesting subject.

CHERON-1-084 has been scheduled to be annihalated today. I'm confused by their methods now. Instead of a simple injection, CHERON-1-084 is to be electrocuted to death. My fellow researchers were shocked at the news: what did the US government expect from using an unorthodox method of death? Of course, we would do it. We have to, our jobs depend on it.

CHERON-1-084 has been executed today, or so we'd expected. One of the other scientists, a Dr. Brant, flipped the switch, and nothing happened. We knew nothing had went wrong, we'd all felt a slight rush of energy as the power was sent into CHERON-1-084, but he shoed no signs of pain, injury, or death. In fact, he seemed... even... GLEEFUL... at this. It was as if the electricity were merely tickling him.

CHERON-1-084 through CHERON-1-90 have all died over the course of testing. We've found that the latest model, CHERON-1-091, has immunity to the effects of UP TO 200,000 MEGAVOLTS! We've had to draw tons of power to test his limits. Now we see why our superiors had wanted us to test electrical methods on CHERON, they'd noticed his ability to survive electricity somehow.
5/13 20XX(-39)
Our MRI machine has been annihilated thanks to CHERON-1-091. It seems that CHERON-1-091 is magnetic! Some further testing proved that this version was able to switch it on and off, an ability that increased his chances of being our primary CHERON model. Not only that, but it was shown today that his IQ is an incredible 14O! That's well above several of the scientists and researchers in this facility! We have grown to be fond of this Chimera, but I can tell that the higher-ups aren't very interested in CHERON anymore. I worry for the Chimera's life. Maybe he won't have to die? It's all hopeful thinking.

The CHERON-1 project was abandoned today. It seems that the US government doesn't want a prectical organism, they want a perfect weapon. That's why they had us begin the PROTOZOA-2 project. The are attempting to make an undersea-living chimera. After examining the preliminary data, they are using this genetic layout: Human DNA- 40%; freshwater Salmon DNA- 20%; various forms of jellyfish DNA- 40%. What an odd organism.

PROTOZOA-2-042 was made today, and seems to be an uninteresting subject. He looks human enough, but something is different. Unfortunately, he is too young to tell. He will reach full maturity in 2 weeks' time, due to the growth hormones we've injected in him. Then it will be more apparent to see his abilities.

PROTOZOA-2-061 was made yesterday, and now I've finally found out what is so odd about PROTOZOA! Although, like CHERON, the PROTOZOA series is able to minimize their O2 requirements! It can be lowered to the point where having a mouthful of water is all he needs is to breathe. It has been tested in both fresh water and saltwater and the difference is negligible.

It has been over 7 months since my last writing. We've been so busy with the latest PROTOZOA models, that I haven't had time to write. I will write only what was most important about the last few months, though, so as not to waste time in recording my thoughts. First of all, every single Human Chimera we've made has been male. I don't understand it, but it may just be an extreme luck of the draw. our latest subject is PROTOZOA-2-174. He is different than the others because of his physical incapability to be held by any substance. Yes, PROTOZOA-2-174 is a liquid. He attempted to escape just the other day, and it was very close to success. We must be more careful with these chimera's, I told the others after he'd be safely restrained.
CHERON-1-081 Has shown signs of personal development as well. During a routine checkup of his blood pressure, weight, height, and all that, he accidentally KILLED Dr. Brown. As all children are, he defied the doctors in getting a shot. Brown accidentally got too close with the needle (which is now a special non-magnetic substancce especially made for CHERON models). Anyways, he managed to release an amount of electricity fatal to ordinary humans FROM HIS HAND. It seems that his anger released a hormone made only in his Chimera body, and the hormone allowed him to tap into the stores of electrical power in his body. Likewise, he can absorb electricity from a nearby source. The Head has decreed that CHERON-1-091 be put in a rubber room, so as to not allow him to wipe out the power to the whole building.

It looks to me that I'm going to have yet another Christmas without my wife. It is a great shame, as our son, Shaun, will be turning 13 next year. The only reason I keep this job is because of the extravagant payloads and benefits for my family. Now to move on to the Chimera project.
PROTOZOA-2-174 died in a shock test. It appears that somewhere in his body, while PROTOZOA is in liquid state, there is a miniscule part that is vulnerable. I predict that if something strikes that, that NERVE, he will be injured. Electricity is useful in this, because of its magnified effect and widespreadedness in water. PROTOZOA died almost immediately after contact.

Another Chimera project has been abandoned for the time being. PROTOZOA-2-176 was deemed as unhelpful for military purposes and moved aside. He has shown no new abilities since he gained the ability to manipulate liquids. He can now make liquids flow anywhere he wants it to. His optimal substance is water, but he can move other liquids to various effects. Another note of this ability is that the closer to boiling or freezing point a liquid is at, the harder it is for him to move it. I guess that liquids are PROTOZOA's sole specialty.

For the last few major wars on Earth, biological warfare was a threat. Now we've created a Chimera that can take advantage of toxins and venoms naturally found in the wilderness. This project, is the SPAWRIN-3 project.

With the birth of SPAWRIN-3-027 came new surprises. as the Chimera popped out of the mother's womb, we noticed a large growth on his back. The only word I had for it was, "Ew." It was an orangish tone, and seemed to be natural to SPAWRIN, but that didn't explain what it was. It wasn't until SPAWRIN-3-033 that we realized its nature. You see, SPAWRIN is a being of nature; he can manipulate plant substances to create his own custom drugs, all of them that he instantly memorizes the chemical composition of. These drugs can have effects ranging from venomous afflictions to cures of diseases to hallucinogens, and SPAWRIN only needs to store it in one of the sacs on his back to multiply it. The sacs are those growths, and they are cellular reproduction chambers, made for storing and growing the compounds SPAWRIN makes. That is only a minor amount of data on what SPAWRIN can do, but we are undergoing tests to see what else he is capable of.

SPAWRIN-3-034 has exhibited signs of unnatural sadism and cruelty. It seems he enjoys our suffering as his own crystal meth (Authors note- It would be helpful if someone could give me an intelligent metaphor for this). On a lighter note, SPAWRIN-3-034 has 4 sacs, and is now capable of memorizing plants and their uses in wild form. If the government doesn't cancel this project, we could have SPAWRIN models find and create the cures to nearly any disease! SPAWRIN is knowledgable of this power, as he has hinted of the ability to find an Elixir of Eternal Life and a chemical that can regrow hair (Yay for us)! One last thing to note, which is rather disturbing for the most evil of the chimera's, is that SPAWRIN models are all oddly feminine...

I'm afraid that the government will want to cancel the SPAWRIN tests. It seems that his sadistic abilities are too fearful even to be used as a forceful interrogatory tool. It's only a matter of time, I know it...

We've decided to move on with the chimera's project, since SPAWRIN is going to fail, surely. We've brought up the TERROX chimera, a being made partially of minerals.

We've been working on the TERROX-4 Chimera for a while, now, and it seems to me that we're walking blindly into the unknown. TERROX-4-210 has shown signs of invincibility to physical injuries, as high as maintaining composure from being hit at close range with high caliber weapons.

TERROX-4-360 has yet again surprised us all. Of the last few Chimera's, TERROX is obviously the dumbest, scoring 70 on an IQ test. But what he lacks in brains, he has in brawn. He has developed the ability to copy any metal element and morph that metal into his body. He can change his elemental composition.

The government has approved of us continuing the TERROX-4 model, because of the latest adaptation: animal mutating. Like his ability to change into a mineral, he can change his body into a few beastly forms. He can be used as an offensive weapon, and the money for our section is flowing in. We can afford to have two projects running at once now!

Our latest projects are ZEYLKURAS and XELHA. Both are animal-based chimera's, and I am working personally on ZEYLKURAS-5-011 right now. He is composed of a honeybee queen, praying mantis, and human DNA hybrid. We immediately noticed how minor insects followed his command, but nothing really major has been happening as of yet.
