I prefer the 90's in the music genre I really like Alice in chains and other hard rock music like that. Really today's music doesn't compare at all to the music of yester-year and should be ashamed.

What is your opinion on the subject? "Do you like music from Today or the past?"

Both, honestly. My 2 favorite bands are Pearl Jam and Disturbed. Today's music really is not all that bad, you just have to find what you like.

If you can't find anything, though, stick with the 90's music. ;-)

EDIT: Pearl Jam - 90's
Disturbed - 2000's (I think...if not then me be stupid)

Why do you think 90s music is better? I know it's all subjective, but I don't see an argument here.

90's rock and pop = Nanananananananananananananananananananana (and more nanananananana)

I prefer music from before then, and even music from now. 90's isn't exactly my favorite period in music history.

I think the 90s was one of the best times for music. It was a time where no one was afraid to be different with their music. Unfortunately I don't think the same can be said for some of today's music.

Feh. Every decade had their music, and every decade had their 90% crap. The only reason you people claim a better time for anything is because only the best stands the test of time. Trust me, in 10 years, people will claim the 2000s was the best time, because they remember the good and forget the bad. You will too.

Well to put it lightly, The music from the 90's had more thought and depth to to it instead of making a quick buck and crying about how life sucks... atleast the artist from the 90's did something about life sucking ;l

Yea you're probably right. Maybe I'm in denial because I want to remember the best of my childhood. Maybe I was too young to know good music form bad music. Maybe Fastball was the best band of all time.

Popular music now sucks complete ass. Popular music in the 90s sucked complete ass. There are a few exceptions - back then we had Radiohead, and now we have MIA, for instance - but popular music is generally a wasteland and you're very lucky if you find anything on the radio that isn't utter shit no matter what decade you're listening in.

I enjoy a lot of stuff from the 90's and current stuff. Its just the big music industries only try to cash in on what sells.

There are a few albums that came out last year, and even this year that are amazing.

Amesouers, Mastadon, Animal Collective, Brand New, Sculptured, Agalloch, etc.

There's a ton of great stuff out there, you just have to do some digging

The 90's had Pearl Jam and a few others...now the 60's/70's is the music period that seems that will never strike again...

No cause theres very very little good in this decade for me to remenber....Just look at people that made the most money in this decade...you will see Rolling Stones, U2 and Maddona...In later decades theres always that band that standed out of the crowd..theres none in this one.

What did they do? Whine about it for 4 minutes, do drugs, then kill themselves?

I mean, I like Pearl Jam and Nirvana as much as the next hipster, but they weren't heroes or something. And I'm pretty sure everyone in pop music since the end of World War II has been in it primarily to make a 'quick buck.' The farther you go back, the more talented they were, but it was still a business thing.

That's the only argument against today's non-music I'll make. There's virtually no talent or skill on display. Producers think we're too stupid to notice that they're trying to hide suckiness under overproduction. And the fact that these people are millionaires proves that the producers and distributors are RIGHT.

Of course, I buy Robert Crumb albums and Finnish folk rock, so I don't pay attention to anything new except for the rare hip-hop/R&B track. There is some talent still floating around there. Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, for instance.

And 90s pop rap is probably the best music that came out that decade. Unless you don't like rap. In which case....nevermind, then.

BTW, does anyone else remember Nudeswirl? [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP1qnxnu4aI] (Skip through first 20 seconds.)

the 90's gave us Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Garbage, Soundgarden. This is true. They also gave us Live, Hanson, The Spice Girls and The Backstreet Boys. Just sit back and listen to your favorite music

I thought their album Blood Mountain was just a bit better. Granted it was a lot heavier than Crack the Skye. I highly recommend it.

90s?
You must mean 70s.

But anyway, like whoever said that the music companies trying to cash in on what sells is really what controls the sound of the times.

I'm a big Foo Fighters fan and I don't think I've heard a song from them that I dislike. They started in the 90s. Yet are still active today. But I also love todays music too. Definitely both.
