And so far it looks like its living up to its Psychological Horror name:

Well Gore Verbinski showed he had the fucked up horror chops in The Ring so lets see if this one will be just as good.

Hmm. Well, I don't know if I'd call him "visionary." They seem to hand that term out like candy these days. I looked him up. He's worked on The Lone Ranger and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, so... color me unimpressed. He makes me think of J.J. Abrams. Someone who will get the job done, but who doesn't push boundaries.

Still, it's been a long time since we've had a good horror film, and that trailer did look pretty trippy. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

At least from a visual and special effects standpoint, the man is visionary:

Goddamn say what you will about At World's End that movie was a special effects Masterpiece.

I mean, he has vision, yes. That's not typically what I mean when I think visionary, though. I liked his practical affects work, but I haven't seen anything about his camera angles or shots that were visionary. It's like when they called Sam Raimi a visionary. I like Sam Raimi, he's a great director. Definitely above average. But visionary is pushing it a little bit.

Visually, this film looks pretty good though. I can't argue about that.

Carl Lumbly (Marcus from Alias and Martian Manhunter in Justice League) is in this movie. It looks visually interesting. The February release date is not promising though.
