Hey Escapist. I figure if anyone can help me out here, it'll be you guys, being an awesome almost troll-free community and all.

Here's the story. About 5-6 years ago, my family had a divorce. The majority of the year, I spend with my mother, along with my two siblings. One weekend a month, we go see my father, as well as a couple holidays, and three weeks in Summer.

The last part breaks my Mom's heart.

Now, a few months ago, I turned 18. I am now legally an adult, and as such, don't have to go down to San Antonio (Where my father lives) this year. My siblings do though.

So, I'm looking for a 2-player game that I can play with my mother to help cheer her up during this. I'm looking for something story/campaign-y that we can co-op on, for her sake.

Keep in mind that I own a Wii. This means that Wii games, Gamecube games, and Virtual Console games are all viable.

Please lend me your suggestions. I'm counting on you Escapist!

Wish I had games to suggest, but I'm an Xbox gal. Just stopped in to say that your mom raised you well, and that it gives me the fuzzy-wuzzies to see genuine human decency in somebody as young as yourself. You mom must be so proud of you. :)

I'm sorry, man. If it was anything but Wii I might be able to help you out more. I hope you can find something, though.

Christ, Wii, that's gonna be hard on this site.

Smash Bros is fun as hell, but might not provide extended enjoyment. Maybe someone at your local game store can point you in the right direction?

And props for helping your mum through tough times.

I hate to be the 5th or so to say this but Wii, co-op campaign based game... this'll be tougher then i thought. If she is the active type maybe dance dance revolution, my mom loves the game. Super Smash Bros, it is a great game but I doubt it is what your looking for. If she would be OK with it the House of the Dead game was great fun, if she happens to like B-movies she would love the plot.

Contrary to what everyone here seems to believe, there is in fact, a huge list of coop games for the wii. There's a lot of games there spread over about 5 pages. It has icons that tell you whether they are split-screen coop or online coop (most seem to support split-screen.) If you hover the mouse over the icon then the information will come up. The couch one indicates offline coop.

Have fun :)

Eh, there aren't very many good wii co-op titles to be honest. I'd say you're best bet is to go for the lego games, kirby's epic yarn, and maybe a rail shooter if she's into that kind of thing. I didn't play co-op on Zack And Wiki, but it was a fun game and the co-op could work well if she likes adventure games.

Edit: Oh, and New Super Mario Bros Wii could be good, though I've heard that it can also cause a lot of anger.

Keep in mind that Gamecube games are perfectly acceptable as well. I happen to have two working Gamecube controllers at my disposal.....

Wasn't there a renewed version of Super Mario Bros? I believe it's co-op, and even goes up to 4 players. Assuming your mother isn't a big gamer it should be pleasant/fun enough.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is loads of fun for multiple players. So is Donkey Kong Country Returns, albeit it's quite a bit harder.

I would say House of the Dead: Overkill, but I don't imagine your mom liking that :/

You could get Twilight Princess and try to figure out the puzzles together I guess.

Oh, you could get whatever the newest Mario Party is.

Kirby's Epic Yarn? Or if a Tales game seems like something she would like, you could try something like Symphonia.

Mario Kart Wii? You can aso get the re-release of Super Mario All-Stars or just download them individually from the Wii Store. Or you guys could just pay Wii Sports Resort. My mom loves the 100 Pin bowling on that. Donkey Kong Country Returns is Co-op and crazy fun.

I recommend Kirby's Epic yarn. Great little coop game that isn't too difficult and it's completely adorable.

Brawl has a decent campaign in it, actually, that your mom would probably be able to play and enjoy.
