Hello there!
I've started looking for a PC game about robots a few months ago. Yes, robots.
So basically, all I can remember is this :
- There are 4 teams : Red, Blue, Yellow & Green
- It's pretty much a game about building a base and destroying the other teams. Kinda like AoE.
- There was a Campaign and a Skirmish gamemode.
- You could go into 1st person and play as a single robot.
- I played it around the same time I played Moonbase Commander

If it rings any bells, please comment!
Thanks in advance!

Already tried twice, nobody answered...
I know I should go there, but nobody seems to answer, so I tried making my own post :|

Ground Control? Hmm, no, you're a tank there, not a robot.
No, that's not it... It had a very closed, square map, and yeah, as you said, you're a tank in GC.
Thanks anyways, I appreciate it :)

I am finding ones that have certain aspects, but I am struggling to discover any that mention being able to control individual units.

Man, that sounds very similar to Savage. It was a pseudo RTS/FPS game based around destroying your enemies base originally released around the same time as Moonbase commander (2002/2003 era). It's definitely not the game you're thinking of though, because 1) it was about humans and monster beasts, NOT robots and 2) I'm pretty sure it didn't have a single player campaign.

If you can't find what you're looking for, maybe this would be a suitable alternative =)

Here's a shot in the dark:

Battlezone 1 or 2:

or possibly "Machines: 3D real time strategy"... couldn't get a good image, here's the cover art:

Are the Team colours an important feature in the single player? As in, is the campaign a 4 way war or is that just the team colours in multiplayer?

Eh... better question, are their distinct factions or is it copy pasted teams with palette swaps?

EDIT:

Another question... do you know whether it was released at the same time as moonbase commander? Could it be an older game?

Ragsn, I think you have hit the bullseye.
I'm gonna test it out, it looks like that's it!
Edit : Can't get a decent download.
Help please?

Which one, Machines or Battlezone 1/2?

I'm going to guess machines... well, first off here's a video:

You can probably confirm if Machines is it or not with this video.

Secondly, I have no idea where you can get this game... BUT, I have found a community site that tried to get the game running on newer systems (as of 2007/8) and there has been some recent activity... not sure if this helps, but a community focused on the game is better then none right?

It's Machines, and I've already been to wiredforwar.org
I keep getting installation errors.

Well, I'm not sure if there is anything else I can do for you. What kind of errors are you getting? Corrupted files or does it start at all?

EDIT:

I spotted the game on Ebay... but only one copy and the guy is looking for $50. While I have no doubt the game is rare, I highly doubt its worth that price point.

The installation fails while doing something.
I'll try and see if I can get it working.
Thanks on being so helpful, you're awesome!

EDIT:

Oh my god, it's working like a charm.
I almost cried.
Thanks, you really made my day (and a whole week)
