A Game that you owe something to.

Hey guys, was looking back on my favorite games the other day with some friendos and one kept coming into my head. That game was Final Fantasy X. Not only was it my first genuine RPG that I owned, it was also my first Mature (or M rated where I am) game that I ever got, among so many other things. I fell in love with it, I still play FFX today and get the same amount of joy and wonder from it. It actually solidified my dreams of becoming a Video Game designer, I dream I still have today, I want to inspire and enthrall future and present gamers with my stories and worlds the same way I was with Final Fantasy X. So what games do you look back on, guys?

I was about to jump in to tell you that FFX was not a M but then I realized that you are Australian (and in Australia's wacky rating system, FFX is rated M; this would be a T in the ESRB rating system). You may want to put that in your OP or else I'm guessing you'll be getting a lot of quotes telling you that FFX is not a M rated game

Anyway, I don't owe it something but it owes me! My college life back...

When Halo came out, I was a senior in high school. It was fun but it wasn't until I got to the dorms in the next year with the LAN capabilities of college that it really took off. Competitive FPS's became (and still is) a big part of my gaming library in large part thanks to Halo.

Probably The Secret of Monkey Island, because it was the game that basically helped me learning English. Also it gave me lots of great moments while I played it.

Also Doom because I had great moments with good friends playing it.

Also The Sims series for giving me relief during stressful moments in my life.

Bioshock for making me more interested in philosophy and existencialism.

Games are so great, that I can't help but feeling sorry for non gamers.

For me it has to be the games I played in my early years (1996 as a 5-year-old to maybe 11 or 12) since I doubt my English wouldn't be anywhere close to were it is now if it wasn't for games and TVShows. (English is my 3rd language)

I owe pokemon red,blue,yellow for teaching me how to read.
I had trouble learning due to disabilities learning as a kid and somthing about pokemon clicked

I owe Super Mario 64 for convincing me that I was put on this earth to make video games.

I owe countless other games for reinforcing many educational subjects in me, such as math, phonics, grammar, vocabulary, etc. in addition to those same games for the inspiration to practice my artistic and linguistic skills. I can't fathom where my motivation would have come from otherwise.

Without Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 1, I would not have gotten back into pokemon. (It's a meh-ish game but without it, I would not have seen the amazingness that is Diamond and Pearl).

I owe Runescape for teaching me how to type, fuck middle school teaching me how to do it the slow way.

Reading Rabbit. I'm pretty young...so educational video games began my love of video games and taught me to enjoy grammar and spelling stuff.

Halo. I owe half my friends to Halo. Those big LAN parties in highschool one of my mates was always throwing really helped introduce me to a lot of people.

Agreed, I spent night and day pouring over that index learning everything I could and then was too tired the next day to care about anything a teacher wanted me to learn... That kinda shows how I prioritise my life.

Persona 3.

Not only did Persona 3 firmly cement me as a fan of the MegaTen franchise (I'd played a few before them, and liked them, but P3 was the one that had me most hooked)

And it's also the game that inspired me to make Persona 3 FTW which lead to me realizing how much I loved doing webcomics, how great it felt to have dedicated fans and has just brought me so much joy.

Years from now, if I ever get my new comic to be successful to the point of being my career, I will always remember Persona 3 for being the game that launched my first series and lead me to this.

I owe a lot to Persona 3.

I owe a LOT to God of War 1 for changing my tastes in video games and setting the bar for my standards in quality in games.

Metal Gear Solid made me care about characters and, plot in a game. It was my first really deep and, truly mature gaming experience. I actually sympathized with some of the characters too like Sniper Wolf, Otakon and, Maryle. It was a game I played over and over again and would be playing now if the discs didn't look like they were used as sandpaper...

Actually, I owe my job to Resident Evil. When I was little, I saw my dad play it and fell in love, but wasn't allowed to play M games. I would always go into my local Gamestop and always wanted to talk about it and games that were similar that I could play. This one guy started referring to me as the Resident Evil Kid and I got pretty popular among the guys there. Every time I went, in I told them I wanted to work there and as I grew up I finally got the chance. The guy that used to talk to me became the manager and gave me a chance. I worked my butt off and was eventually hired on for a permanent position. So I owe my job, most of my friends and a lot of stuff to the RE series.
