We are all gamers, and supposely, we have a life - a gaming life.
From the beginning i loved games, on either console or PC i just loved them. Starting with a few DEMO`s on my pc, back when i was a kid, i began experiencing stranger and yet satisfying feelings while passing from one mission or game to another. From Mech Commander to Worms, from Total Annihilation to Soul Reaver, from Duke Nuken to Warcraft .... i grew up.
Now i`m no longer a kid, i`m just an idiot, i play MMO`s. I saw the gaming industry almost turning into crap, right before Heroes started from cartoonish to impressive to simply fantastic and then to a pile of 3D nonsense.
From time to time i tried one of the "new games", just a few were good, after all my hopes were crushed by "cute" graphics i would often return to one of the Golden games trying to get a new high score.
Maybe i just don`t get it, maybe i should just quit gaming, or maybe there`s just something wrong with the industry. I fail to see the point of the tons of graphics in Crysis if at the highest difficulty level i managed to get to the point "exiting the alien ship" using only the fists. It seems like luck when i find a new and good game, Dawn of War ... with the new promising Warhammer On`line. But even with MMO`s, out of hundreds, only a few are worthy or playable.
Assassins Creed felt too repetitive, using the so called freedom to get faster to the new objective or target.
Devil May Cry 4 felt way too easy, with critical flaws ... like a damn story.
Mass Effect didn`t really made me feel like exploring, made me feel like playing dota.
Call of Duty 4 turned out to be a decent shooter.
The list can go on forever, and looking at the games soon to be released, i`m quite anxious too see what will happen to Fallout 3, and to see how StarCraft 2 and Diablo3 will be destroyed.
Just can`t figure out what the problem is .... is it me ?

I whole heartedly disagree.

I've been playing games since i was about 5 and i'm 26 now.

Gaming is better than ever and will continue to improve. It's not a surprise you feel this way when those are the games you are playing.

With the exception of COD of course.

I`m not going to make a list and a description about all the games i played ( i have a blog for that ), the 29 out of 30 are somewhere below mediocre, clones mostly.
The money part is the problem, but all the investors should manage to realize that tones of cash are useless if the game looks good, but somewhere along it`s creation key parts of the game are missing or broken.
i`m almost starting to think that they are adding a few bugs on purpose, take Assassin`s Creed for example, it has some of the visual bugs like a `98 game.

Things change, the gaming industry is shifting up and down constantly. The originals are always going to be great in their own way, but the new and innovative games that are coming out are going to be just as great, but not always in the same way as the older ones are.
