So, just had an experience where my PS4 shut off abruptly after making about half a dozen clicking noises rapidly. Fortunately, I got mine working again after unplugging everything from it and blowing the dust out of it. Going to get some rubber stoppers at the hardware store tomorrow morning to raise the PS4 up off the surface of my table so it has some breathing room underneath. Just thought I'd give y'all a heads up on the matter.

For discussion purposes (mainly for those of us whom are called console peasants), what issues have you discovered with your new gaming consoles/rigs/device?

bought a Wii U and an Xbox One both of them had shitty short HDMI leads that can't even fit underneath my tv cabinet at all.

paid alot of money for those consoles. the least Nintendo and M$ could is give us a decent length on our HDMI leads instead of short things.

I'm not too worried about that, shortly after getting my PS4, I went out and bought a stand for it as I didn't like how it stood up vertically which I have to have for space reasons. What I object is that this stand cost ?20. Once upon a time, this sort of thing would have come free with the console.

The only problem I have had with my PS4 is when I first got it. The first thing I did when I got it was change the hard drive from the standard 500GB to a 2TB one. Changing the hard drive took about 5 minutes. I downloaded what I thought was the right patch from the Sony website and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work. After scouring the website I finally found the right patch and managed to get it working. That only took me 2 hours to do. I still say that the right patch wasn't easy to find. Not that I stupidly tried to install the first download I found.

My PS4 used to constantly eject disks and turn itself on. I was able to fix it, but I had to void the warranty and the eject button no longer works.

Just one factor in my decision to move to PC gaming.

I did this for my mate, you have to install their OS I seem to remember? I thought it was fairly easy to do and weirdly consumer focused of Sony to offer they software. Still a shame you can't put an SSD in there to sort out those horrific 1990 load times.

I?ve had a couple issues with my Xbox One: primarily, the Kinect has been very particular as to when it wants to listen to me, but seeing as I hate the Kinect and am just too lazy to reach back there and unplug it, it doesn?t really affect me. More recently, I?ve noticed it doesn?t like to be turned on by my hitting the guide button on my controller. The control will come on and the guide button will flash, but it doesn?t activate the console; I have to turn it on manually then do a hard reboot to get it to recognize the controller again. Does this about once a week.

I put some spacers under each corner on my PS3 Slim too. Have gotten 7 years out of it so far *knocks on wood*.

Havent had any issues with the WiiU or PS4 yet. Did not get a Xbox1 due to MS `vision` not being anything I want a part of and the fact that there seems to be less and less reason to get both with most exclusives being available for PS4.

Last gen was literally the only one I had problems with I mean I did replace an Xbox (original) and PS2 but they did still work except with a single game (PS2 would no longer run FFX and Xbox would not run Magic the gathering actually had 2 xboxes that would not run thta one game for some reason).

360 was the worst built console I have ever seen with the PS3 in just behind it. My 360 red ringed after about 5 years (which was good going from all the other ones that RROD with my friends). I fixed it got another 18 months and then it just got ridiculousy slow like taking 20 min to load a game like it thought it was the C64 or something it also started to corrupt my save data so packed it up and called it a day. PS3 lasted about 7 years after that it YLOD I fixed it it would work perfectly for about 3 months and then YLOD again. Eventually I bought a PS3 slim since there were still games I wanted to play on it. With the Wii I had zero problems also the SNES still works like a charm same with the PS1 (although many had problems later with the disc drive) N64 and GC. Game gear still works as well :)

Had 2 PCs die in the last 10 years as well and 1 laptop (almost 2 but 1 started working again).
