Being the over-imaginative person that I am, I tend to think up scenarios that scare me late at night and wonder what I would do in those situations.
This is one if them:

Your in bed at around 1 o'clock when you hear a sound similar to movement in your room. You naturally freeze and listen closer, the sound stops and then changes to slow careful breathing. What do you do?
As an extension of this; suppose you do nothing and then you feel a needle being stuck into your neck, do you get up and confront the person before they can inject whatever is in the syringe into your body or do you wait it out and hope the person will do something harmless and go away?

Being a light sleeper of sorts I'd have confronted the person the moment they entered the room.

I have this weird thing about not being able to sleep if something is amiss, even if it is something as mundane as a bottle of cleaning fluid left out.

I collect swords and knives and have them placed around my room in case such a situation did occur. My dog also sleeps on my bed. I'd jump up as soon as I heard movement (probably because i have a lock on the back of my door and my windows are tiny).

Situation 1: Lie awake and wait for my night vision to come back, my room is pretty well lit.

Situation 2: Freak the #^&% out and try to fight. I really really hate needles.

Part 1: I DO keep an aluminium tee ball beside my bed, so I would very slowly grab it and get ready.

Part 2: I hit them very hard with said bat until they stop moving or untill I think they wont be a threat, then I call the cops

I think upon hearing the breathing, I'd carefully peek around (disguising all movements as turning in my sleep) to confirm that there is definitely an intruder.

Then the best thing to do would be shout as loud as I can to wake up the other members of the household, and jump out of bed as fast as possible. If I'm lucky, someone will get to me in time to help. If not, well at least I've given everyone else warning enough to defend themselves.

And in the case of the needle, get it the fuck out of your neck before he injects, and go for his eyes (or wherever you think they might be).

Grab my airsoft gun and threaten the intruder with it, hoping they panic and don't notice the orange muzzle.

Well everyone would switch on a light and see who it was.
I suppose most people would just do that but I for one would be a little more hesitant about it.
I was just wondering how many people would be too scared to think logically.

1: I grab the .45 under my pillow and chamber a round. I point it in the general direction of the sound and flip on the light.

2: I grab my .45, chamber a round, and discharge it at least twice into the person sticking a needle in me.

Also, there's about 10 meters or so of empty space between the staircase up into my room and my bed. It's a very loud, creaky staircase. I situated myself like that on purpose.

Having a gun does make these situations a lot more easy doesn't it :)
although I would worry too much about the possibility of shooting relatives or friends.

And anyway a random guy in the darkness as a hypothetical isn't that scary, that's why marble hornets wasn't scary until the house.
Situation 2 on the other hand is a bit different, would the small size of your room make the person extremely obvious way before they could inject you?

I'm in a weird raised bed thing with a computer and shit under it, and it is just about right next to the door so the door will hit the bed so I will hear them. So I will probably pull out my knife and slash stupidly across his scalp, hope he gets shocked, slam the door shut so he falls over, jump down, open the other door in my room then exit out of my brothers room the confront him on the same level, or just hold the knife too him.

What, I planed that out too much? YOU PLANNED IT OUT TOO MUCH D:<
Hehe there's no such thing as overplanning in hypothetical situations about mysterious intruders, it's good to have a game plan.
