Get rid of the fucking Mako. Please.

I'm playing through the first game again, and it's still one of my favorites, but having to truck around those four dozen extra planets and scale all those mountains and bounce wildly over every last rock and hill in this barely-controllable piece of crap makes me want to punch a baby. If Captain Kirk gets to fly around planets in a freaking shuttlecraft, I don't see why Shepard can't do the same. And yes, the scene of the Normandy dropping the Mako off looks cool, but it doesn't make a lot of sense--doesn't the ship have to land to pick it up anyway? I damn well know that the fucking thing can't jump high enough for Joker to swoop in and grab it in midair.

Please, for the love of Buddha, let Shepard get a futuristic Huey or something this Christmas.

(There, rant over. Back to the game.)

I was willing to put up with the Mako at first because it reminded me of Starfox 64's Landstalker levels, but I quickly grew to hate it.

I agree with you on this.

I imagine the devs are taking the Mako hate into account... other than texture popping, I think it was probably the most hated aspect of the game.

That, or the asari consort. *shudder*

Dude, what did you hope to get out of this? The Mako was a common complaint, you aren't breaking any ground here, and even if you were, wouldn't Bioware's forums be a better place for this?

Yeah I have issues with the Mako too, but you must admit the graphics when drving look cool.

My main hope is they keep Wrex in the story and that the love interest plot with Shepard and (insert name here) is continued and that just to piss off Fox, the sex scene should be slightly more explicit as if to say:
"Free speech, suck on that."

(by the way whatver you do don't get rid of all the things that made the original SOOO AWESOME.)

Whats wrong with the consort?

And op everyone hates the mako, except me. I didn't like it but I didn't hate it. I only wish that it would go faster or at least trick you with visual effects to make it look like its going faster.

I quite liked the Mako.... I mean, the handling and accessibility to areas with it was beautiful. Only problems I had with it was getting out of it and falling into places where I couldn't get back to it and would be forced to die somewhere or load the game.

I don't generally try to find every damn hidden piece of object on all the planets with it, I just go to the already revealed areas and survey any dig sites along the way. I use the strategy guide to find things i missed once I've gotten to that point in the storyline where now is the good time for sidequests.

Honestly, I think the point of this thread is more for the sake of opening up discussion.

Looking back on Mass Effect, the Mako did control like a fat man on a unicycle. They don't have to take it out. Just make it control properly.

Oh. Well, I look at the Mako the way I look at the elevators: I see it, and realize others had a problem with it, but I have no problem with it myself. Does that make me a fanboy?

Here, lets turn it around ourselves.

What should we replace the Mako with?

A hovercraft? A walker? One of those hamster ball things [http://www.vacationdaysmagazine.com/blog/uploaded_images/a_zorb-733232.jpg] with "Thresher Maw repellent"?

No, it just makes you more tolerant of shitty controls.

The Mako was fine for most parts of the game, but when you tried to explore with (like I did) it becomes a mess. It jumps around all over the place and has a tendency to get stuck in ditches from which you can not escape. Considering it's fucking designed to be able to do this stuff, you'd think it wouldn't be an issue.

...I liked that thing. I mean, you could land on people with a bloody car! And they'd fly for hundreds of meters off a mountainside.

Yeah...

They won't change it. Actually i predict they will make it even more bouncy for next time you're scaling a mountain going at snail speed and a little rock makes your mako bounce up and land 2,000 feet to the bottom on its back.

*Wrex hits Sheppard in the back of the head* Stupid humans and their tanks.

How about something like the dropship from Aliens? I'd be fine with that.

I'm pretty sure that whatever the replacement is, it would have to fly to make sense. You know, to get around the "wouldn't the Normandy have to land to pick it up" problem I mentioned back at the start.

As much as I love the hamster ball, I quite like the idea of a hovercraft-style thingamajig. Cleaner turning and possible gliding. If done well, that could work.

That is exactly how i feel. I have absolutely no problems with either the Mako or elevators. Ha, i must be a fanboy because i believe that if Bioware put it in there, then they did it for a damn good reason. But i did hate Thresher Maws....those things always gave me the creeps.

I have no problem with the Mako and I actually find it rather easy to drive. All you need to do is press forward and it goes forward, it easily climbs over most mountains so you don't have to worry about the steepness, just press forward while occasionally turning left or right. I have no idea how you can fault the handling when it is so incredibly simple to maneuver.

I know this is a rather poor response but, it seems like you hate it because you suck at driving. Maybe you should just practice with it a bit, it is rather simple to get the hang of.

I'm having flashbacks now. I explored every damn planet in that game, and the MAKO and I were not friends. This was back when I used a 360, so trying to drive while shooting was a nightmare.
