If anything the FPS take lots of our time online, so what do we gamers expect for an online-only FPS these days? let it be 5 to 7 ideas lets see what we want!

1- while graphics for me are not a must, it has to be eyecandy
2- Bad company 2 destroyable buildings, roads, trees and such
3- Bad Company 2 vehicles and more, maybe more resistant APCs
4- CoD bullet penetration, weapons, bullet travel and bullet weight like BC2
5- MAG-like killstreaks, quantity of players and conquest mode
6- Bots, weak, inaccurate but able to take commands of human leader, remember Star wars battlefront?
7- Customize faction soldier, a much more rich way of Warhawk's or CoD blk ops

Maybe something new, for a change? All of this have been done, although, not in a single game, but some franchises...

But being perfect would mean you don't want to improve it, the whole point of improvement is to make something that much closer to perfection. Games exist to be played, not just for their potential.

Also, I never do this but I'm just gonna say inb4 "Perfection is impossible". Get over your silly need for absolutes, anyone who'd say that.

But that's a good thing, it means you don't need to keep buying rip-off DLC.

You know, I want a WW2 FPS again. Just one, but a really, really good, story driven WW2 FPS. For just running around shooting at people, I think CoD4 and 5 have it nailed, but for a dream FPS I would want a story driven FPS. I know that BF and CoD have plots, but even in the older games with better plots I still wouldn't call them plot-centric. Something good with characters I care about when they all die at the end, and if Blackadder managed that then a game should be able to as well.

And yeah, I think I just ignored you saying 'online'. I thought WaW had pretty much perfect online, but what do I know? I like MW2.

Although this is true . Once we get the perfect fps we won't need anything other than said game . And that would be awsome.

You don't want perfect anything, you just want a game that got spat out of the generic machine with some of the better bits.
Your list of wants are so mainstream that they forget the glory in indie games, and the fact that a "perfect" fps is impossible, because there are so many types. I prefer TF2 over MW2, but i can't compare them in the same league, because TF2 has original ideas in an original casing, while MW2 is so much mush from the game machine that it blends in with every other "full size" title.

Team fortress 2, never have i see a more active community with such solid, fun game play than in team fortress 2. in any server in team fortress two it almost never boils down to screaming 12 year old's and 16 year old's who act like they're 12. sure its based on hats but all jokes aside, THAT'S REALLY GOOD! a good, fair trade system only feeds the community! and a happier community makes a better player-base which means all bugs and issues get fixed quickly for valves sake...

Basically Call of Duty, with:
- TF2's microtransaction system, i.e., be able to buy, find, craft and trade guns and items.
- Fully or partially destructable buildings. They could put it in a seperate gamemode list.*
- Maybe more vehicle combat on larger maps.*
- Maybe realistic bullet physics, but in a seperate gamemode list.*
- Maybe some sort of special playlist where you swap guns and perks for magic, or use them in conjuction. Just something whacky and fun to relax every now and than.
- Many, many more maps, guns, perks, killsteaks, etc.

*Perhaps put all of these into a single, seperate gamemode list.

Or I had this idea where they could have a game spanning several historical eras. I.e., WWII, Modern, and slightly into the future. Than in multiplayer they can have multiplayer gamemodes like WWII-only, Modern-only, WWII+/vs Modern.

Or they could have normal multiplayer matches, but than have a large persistant world where you can hunt monsters and find rare loot.

So long as it's fast paced, with maybe optional slow paced gameplay, everythings balanced and there's plenty of content they could use anything and I'd be happy.

Throw everyone into a giant open world and make them duke it out for resources. The FPS is well suited for open world, but you'll only ever see a few out among dozens of corridor shooters and multiplayer fixations.

1: Don't design it around a fucking controller
2: Level design does not equal "put explosions and enemy spawns in front of the player"
3: The assault rifle is not god's gift to the trigger finger - the BFG is
4: 20th/21st century Earth is the most boring place in the universe
5: Have a Quicksave function.

That's how you do the perfect shooter, not by vomiting up bits and pieces of the c-shooters that have given the FPS genre a bad name in the last 6 years.
