I've just been shown this video on Facebook by a friend of mine and... I don't know what to say. What the hell? What did this kid do to deserve this? How can so many people be standing by and watching as this goes on? And are these just normal Chinese people, or has the Chinee government been breeding and releasing some kind of humanoid monster onto the streets? To any escapists who already know of this, what the hell happened here?

Well, sadly I'm not surprised. There were stories of a girl getting gangraped and people just stood and watched. I beloved there is a law that states that the more people who are around when something bad happens, the less likely someone will help. Can't remember what the name was

God, and there were people laughing at that. He was getting kicked in the face, and his arm brutally twisted around, and crying in that way that's beyond human (like an instinctive level of pure anguish) and there were people who probably had relatives, women who could have had children about this kid's age.

Actually I've seen kids cry like that because their mother wouldn't get them the chocolate cereal so I'm gonna have to call you out there, not that it changes anything.

OT: Yeah, pretty horrible. Are you really that surprised? Racism isn't uncommon, regardless of where you are, and this kid is lucky he only got a light kick to the face. He could have come out of that far worse than he did. Nonetheless, it's pretty horrific and I do hope that these guys get their deserved punishment.

I couldn't watch the whole video, it was making me tear up too much. That's fucking horrible, I can't believe no-one stepped in to help him! I'm too angry to continue typing coherently so I'll stop now...

If he is wailing like that I think he would have learned his lesson about stealing, there was no need to continue beating him.
He may have deserved it but they took it too far, were they standing on his fingers has well?

Sadly, this is type of thing happens. Ignoring potential racism, the more people who are in an area, the less likely that a single person will take action. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bystander_effect] The thought is that "it's not my business", or that "someone else will take care of it.

Sad but true. However, knowledge of this property of human nature tends to lessen its impact, so learning is half the battle! :p

Now supposedly the kid stole something, but this is far from the appropiate punishment he deserves. And I think its not even about what the kid has done, but the fact that people just stand there and watch, laughing even. I'm yet again losing more faith in humanity.

its the Bystander Effect. the more people around, the less you think you have to something.

still... sad and terrible.

the chinese are more... old school, than countries like the US and UK.

Honestly I've never been against hitting your kid in public as punishment. I know my parental figures werent, and quite frankly i've seen the ***** premadonnas that dont get a nice little swat in the head and how they act when they're grown and I couldnt stand if my kid acted that way.

China?

The same country with a toddler got hit by a vehicle or two while people just walked on by and ignored it?

That video really gets to me, I hate adults being mistreated, but poor kids :( Yes, he may of stole something, but seriously, that's not punishment, it's sadistic.

This i the second awful video I've seen today; the other being the one, supposedly in Nigeria were the same was beaten and burnt to death for either stealing or being gay (different reports)

Well that's always a terrible way to stir up the ol' righteous zeal in me.
As far as I can tell, whilst there is worse happening, that crowd just shows how pathetic people are.

While I agree, what happens in this video is beyond a simple smack for mouthing off or doing something balls-stupid.

I just want to know why the kid just sits there and takes it. As far as I can tell, it wouldn't be that hard to just push your way out of there. It was horrible that people were just watching, but sometimes if no one is helping you, you have to help yourself.

it,s called the bystander effect people expect of each other that they are going to do something.

I'm interested to know the story behind this. What the people/person beating him are like and their history.[sub]Yes I haven't seen the video and I don't plan to.[/sub] Same for the child.
