It doesn't matter whether you are a noob or a veterin I just need to know something. What is the difference between spamming a "cheap ass" move when you first start out playing a new game and doing it when you've been playing for months or years? Correct me if I'm wrong but mashing buttons is still mashing buttons no matter how long you have been doing it for right? This question came about because I got Marvel vs Capcom 3 this week and while playing online and trying to get a feel for the controls I seemed to hear my appoinents periotically bitching about the exact same thing that i was apparently doing. I'm not a noob when it comes to fighting games (though I'm awaire that I'm no expert) I was simply checking out the button lay out for the game. So why do people get so worked up and throw such a ***** fit over the same crap their doing them-selves? Or does doing it for a longer amount of time exempt you from getting your ass chewed for lucky button mashing?

Because people like to think their freaking awesome? I mean im not the best player out there when it comes to fighting games but i always try to vary up my moveset and never use the same moves several times in a row.

However it does irk me when a player knows he/she is going to lose and they start spamming a single attack, take your defeat with Honour!

To answer your question though, if your a new player then its understandable if you stick to tried and true moves and combos, it is sort of expected though that if you play longer you'll start to expand your moveset though. Btw if you want to get a feel for controls then its usually best to start with Single player

You should clear up that post. As it is it just sounds like an angry rant. I say sounds because it's kinda incoherent.

I've played Marvel vs Capcom 3. There are only very few moves you can use. If you find a good combo, stick with it. I use zero and my combo is square, triangle, side circle, x and then a special. It works, some would call it button mashing but its a combo and I'm gonna stick with it.

But people ***** because they don't like losing and think they're God's gift to gaming.

people just get pissed off when they memorize all the combo moves and they get defeated by someone who button mashes or spams one move. Seems to me that button mashing is the only way to go in fighting games.

I'm with this post, at first I thought it was a question for veterinarians.

Tbh, I think it's kinda lame to complain about anything your opponent does when he beats you in a fighting game as long as he uses the game-mechanics and doesn't use "cheat codes". If it is on hit\ single attack spamming, then so what?! He beat you using the games fighting-mechanics to his advantage. Whenever some "vet" tells me I'm spamming or being cheap, I just think that he is angry because he WASTED hours upon hours of time playing, thinking he's the best and then you come along and beat him by button mashing. But that's why I never really liked games like Tekken because I wasted time earning combos and when I asked my kid sister to play against me, she button bashed my ass from here to there and back. So I learned I just have to mach my opponents fighting style to beat them.

If I a "cheap-ass" tactict will get you a win, there is nothing wrong with using it, instead it is the game that is imbalanced. In online games, these things will get patched, but in house-games, you just have to establish house-rules.
Sure, a skilled person can win with using different tacticts than just the obvious one, but still, why not play for the advantage?

Afterall, if this was In Real Life, be it a fighting-simulator, FPS or RTS, you would be using the "cheap-ass" tactict aswell, because it would save you and your allies life.
Some philosophers might disagree, but I'd rather be dishonorable than dead.

Button mashing is boring.. Beeing killed by constant low kicks to the shin is no fun when you know ways to kill people that includes 20 button pushes in correct order for an epic assasination.

Though last time i played games that was of the buttonmashing type, was when i was playing Tekken 3.. But i was so incredibly good at that game so no buttonmasher of any kind had any sort of chance at all..
6 out of 10 matches i usually won with PERFECT result not taking injury at all..

God how much i played that game, even won 1 prize in a norwegian west championship..
