Just flinging a question out to the internet because I can't get in contact with my counselor over the break.
If my transcript does not get to the college at the same time as my application (i.e. the application is due 1/1/12, the transcript won't get in until a week or two after that) is that okay? or am I screwed?

Depends on the school, really. I'd give the admissions office a call and try to talk to a human being. Based on my experiences with a couple of universities, though, they're pretty understanding about delayed official paperwork like transcripts as long as the part you're responsible for (i.e. the application itself) is in on time.

It'll be fine, just so long as it gets there. My transcript was late too, and it didn't prevent me from getting in.

It depends on the school and their application process. I actually don't think I needed a full transcript to apply, but my situation was a bit unusual....

See, I took evening classes in High School and earned college credit. The community college I took the classes at got a bit behind with my transcript, so the university actually didn't receive it until AFTER I had applied, been accepted, and registered for my first semester's classes. That sort of lead to a problem, because a credit transferred as something I didn't expect. The class I took was called COM 115 by the community college, but the university took it as ENG 110. I wasn't aware of this when I registered for classes, so my first semester I was enrolled in ENG 110. I didn't look at my transcript until 5 weeks into the semester, and it was at that point that I realized I was enrolled in a class I already had credit for (and a 4.0 GPA for it, at that). So I went to the registrar's office, and even though it was passed the date to get a full refund for dropping a class, they gave me all my money back for the class since they're actually supposed to inform you when something like that happens. So I dropped the class, got my money back, and ended up taking 13 hours that semester instead of 16.

But again, that's just my experience. The best thing for you to do is call the university (if I had to guess, you'd want to contact either the office of admissions or the registrar's office), ask if it'll be a problem, and if it will be then ask what you can do about it. Maybe there's a specific person you could send your transcript to as soon as you get it, like some sort of advisor.
