A Reflection for the Community

I'd like to take a minute of your time to tell the Escapist community something...

Early in the new year, I was kind of an emotional wreck. I kept thinking of things, my place within them and other social things and later thought of suicide to stop the feeling of nothingness I was feeling.

Now, I'm feeling better but that's not the point of this thread. The point here is to thank each and everyone on this site.

Never before had I been part of a community that cares. This was the only site I had tried posting my feelings and I had friends all around me to help make sure I do the right thing and get help for the problem.

I've met more people here that I would call a true friend than I have anywhere else in my life. No matter what happens in the future, this site will always be my home

I don't feel like I helped either but I can agree with the Psychic Taco. I too have found this community to be really great, which is why I've been here for so long and, why I keep posting on the forums and, etc.

I never knew you were in trouble Mr. Taco. Then again, I was too for most of this year and several members closer to me have stepped up to help me through it. A lot of caring people live and play connected to these forums. Don't hesitate to ask.

I owe the people here a lot of thanks for helping me out. I want to be a person others can turn to as well. If you ever need a talk, let me know Taco. I ain't going nowhere and I'm told I'm a good listener. Doors always open.

It's been said before and will be said again: while the forums can be a bit of a scary place with a lot of unnecessary negativity, there's plenty of groups..

R&P users are mostly awesome as most of the discussion is civil, well-thought out, and attempts to see the other person's point of view. Seeing as we're a forum that discusses religion and politics, on the internet, I feel we probably deserve a Nobel Peace Prize or something for that epic achievement.

I think the core group of people I regularly talk to here is the only reason I keep coming back.

That or Stockholm syndrome but I'm fairly certain that it's the people.

The forums may be full of bile a lot of the time but there are some really lovely people if you know where to look and I'm really grateful that I've found them.

Since I personally advised each and every one of you in all of your issues, I humbly accept your thanks.

Haha, I did think that people here were awesome. The recent threads on that guy who got taken in by the eBay scam have soured my impression somewhat, but I'm sure it will fade.

Anyway, I don't know you OP and I'm sure you don't know me, but I'm glad you're feeling better. You sound like a stand up guy, so I Hope that life starts treating you better. You only get one, so it might as well be happy.

I guess things must be different in the user groups, I only pop into threads for discussions and sometimes this community is just... I can't think of an adequate word, but there are some awfully unpleasant people stalking these forums. They never seem to stay long, which is good!

Thinking about it, I can't remember the last time I had a nice healthy discussion about video games on this site... over the last... while(?), it's all been gender politics, business and hardware. Where do I go to talk about games?
