Do you think that Nick, the editors and famous contributors like Yahtzee read these threads, see all the weird stuff we say and judge us?

I'm guessing Nick drops in regularly and doesn't particularly care about weirdness so long as we don't go overboard, cuz I'm guessing he's seen worse than us. I don't think the rest of the content creators visit the forums, tho I know of some that do respond to Discuss comments.

Yathzee might've read comments on his videos back in the heyday of v1, since there was more integration between the forum and the site proper, but I'd actually be surprised if he knows there still is a forum.

Look for a reference to 'the average iq of an escapist forum user' or something in the next yahtzee video I guess.

Definitely not. Chimpzy already basically took my answer. Back in v1 days when there was major integration between the forums and site content I would have said yes, but these days no. I suspect Nick mostly gave up on the forums when he realized that most of the regulars don't actually go to the site proper, and that's why we've never seen the promised forum integration materialize. He checks in now and then, but I believe its exclusively in an administrative capacity to ensure the place isn't falling into absolute chaos and to weigh in whenever a thread directly relates to the Escapist, but I doubt he spends any time at all actually reading random threads. Not that it's a mark against him, he's still done more for the site, forums included, than any of the EICs for a long time.

I'm pretty sure Yahtzee said at one point in V1 he doesn't even read the comments on his own videos, let alone any other threads. I can believe that, as in contrast to many other contributors he never answered questions or commented in his threads.

I'm fairly certain that he has read the disqus comments on at least one of his ZP videos, since he mentioned something brought up there in the post review stream. Specifically, my comment on this video.

And he read the disqus comments on the dev diary series, or at least the ones where he later displayed them in a later video, obviously.

Even if he judges me or anyone else I don't think that is anything to be bothered by.

Back in the day Jim Sterling used to patrol the forums. It was rare, but not unheard of for them to respond to us.
If anyone in management does read these threads, they're probably really bored. We're a boring group of people. We talk standard politics and movies and games. We ain't exactly an algonquin round table of controversial opinions.

Every now and then he mentions in post-ZP streams reading the Disqus comments on ZP, just to get a feel for the reactions to the video.

Back when maybe, probably not now. At any rate as far as the random interactions of a loose group of about 25 people goes this forum is not really that bad.

The threads on actual site content get minimal views/comments anyway which is probably what the people making content would be most interested in. I remember Yahtzee used to definitely read his reddit fan page, and some video comments whether they're youtube or discus, but I'm fairly certain that he's never directly interacted with the comments. I know the discord involves some amount of interaction with content creators, but its not everybody.

He said that, but he's a dirty liar because he referenced the people saying "first!" and immediately getting banned. Also he's occasionally made references to comments in some other series he's made as stated above. And there was that time he changed one of his jokes in a ZP because of an outcry in the comments, leading to another outcry in the comments.

Just wait until they read the series of posts I've been working on about my model train set. It'll knock their socks off!

You joke, but I love assembling 40k and Gundam models, and I know Jim has been 40k-curious for ages. I'd actually enjoy hearing about a model train project!

Actually, been thinking about making a scratch built 40k model train out of bits and pieces. The 40kness is important, because I can say it's orky and supposed to be wonky.

If you do an Ork train, I want to see everything! That sounds amazing. Are you thinking of it being a tabletop model, or part of a display board, or a kill team board or actually part of the terrain itself?

I’m sure they pop in from time to time to get feedback or how the forums are doing.

On a balsa wood base, been making a few things that way. Vehicles with wheels made of bottle lids and frames of balsa and paddlepop sticks. Thinking of making a few sections it could run on, but probably couldn't make any curving bits.

Also my 7 yr old nephew is obsessed with trains and train related things, hope he'd be impressed.
