NBCUniversal got fined $250 for trimming trees without permit (coincidentally, the trees that would give shade to the strikers were trimmed down).

PS: No trees were (significantly) damaged.

I still feel like this is going to backfire massively. Most people consume content on streaming service, most of those have international version filled with local content. Once the backlog of American content dry out, streaming service will probably just switch to mostly serving foreign content that they already have mixed with stuff that doesn't need writer (ie reality show), and I think the public will be just fine with that and won't even really notice the difference.

This story is closely enough related to the subject at hand:

For some background: VFX workers and animators have for the longest time been without a union, which has lead to them being being a lot more disposable in the industry. The most notable instance is probably that the studio behind the special effects in Like Of Pi was dissolved by the time that movie won an Oscar for best special effects.

This is unfortunately nothing new for the FFX industry either. The same thing happened to the first Sonic movie where the team had to go back and do heavy duty crunch to make Sonic look actually good. Only to be shut down and all laid off after the success of the movie. Like the video game industry, the VFX industry needs unions pronto.
