A Very Paragon Thread; Why can't we make actually hot women in (most) games?

So yes, it's time for another extremely Paragon Fury thread.

I was watching some of the absolutely ridiculous stuff people have been making with the built-in Create-A-Soul character maker for SCVI and a thought occurred to me;

How come we're not allowed to make women this hot in other games, even if the games seemingly allow it in-universe?

Even if it isn't at the same level of quality as CAS, it still seems odd. I went through every game I could think of that has a decent level of character customization, and I couldn't think of a single one outside of hentai games that lets you actually make a truly hot female character - at least not one where it's generically set that [every single female in the game is at that level.

Considering everything from Monster Hunter World to the Mass Effect series, FFXIV and basically all the Bethesda games like Skyrim, Fallout etc. and others and I realized that even the most liberal/free to create character editors basically boil down to, as far as body shapes go;

Males

* Fat/Out of Shape
* Waif-ish/thin
* Average
* Slightly Fit
* Great Shape
* Atlas-like hotness

Females

* Fat/Out of Shape (though this is fairly recent in being allowed)
* Thin/Waifish
* Average
* "Girl Next Door"/Slightly Above Average Pretty

I couldn't find a single game outside the H-Game genre that let you actually create a really hot female character without the use of mods. Plenty of games let you make all sorts of men in all shapes and able to copy most actors/people/body shapes etc. you could want, women were comparatively limited. If you wanted to copy faces sure, but if you wanted to give someone the body of say, Jessica Nigri/Danielle Vedoville/ScarJo/Christina Hendricks etc. you'd be out of luck.

World of Warcraft don't allow that?
Unless by "hot" you mean j-cup minimum.

Bethesda games, last i checked have problem with creating good looking human characters, m or f.

I was excluding games where everyone is forced to look that way, even if they're allowed minor changes. WoW definitely falls under that category, since literally every character of a race will look similar except for color, minor facial details and hair unless they're an NPC or a Draenei/Worgen/Pandaren.

when you say "actually hot" do you mean actually hot or japanese hentai hot
Expanding on this: What is "actually hot" anyways?

If anything, I'd say that homeliness is significantly rarer than attractiveness in games (though to be fair, that's a trend they share with most other forms of media)

I tend to like more slender girls so I don't ever see such an issue. I guess if you only find really voluptuous body types as "hot" then that would explain it though.

I think the reason for this is that the player-created characters are meant to be self-inserts that will be designed to somewhat look like the player in a lot of cases and not a lot of players happen to look like this:

You want big tits don't you? Here's your boring answer.

You could create a separate big-titty body mesh and skeleton, absolutely perfect to the artist's imagination, but then you would need to sculpt, skin, and optionally retopologize every single piece of clothing again to match that body. This is extremely tedious and time consuming for something relatively unimportant. You might also have to create an additional animation set just for that body. That's why in most games you have one stock body.

Another way would be to use a generic body mesh, and then use blend shape deformers (deformation from one mesh to another with the same topology, can't really explain it better). This way you can interpolate between flat girl to titty monster, in-game showing up as the breast size slider. Similar to above, you have to create a blend shape mesh for each piece of clothing. The more sliders, the more blend shape meshes for every piece of clothing you need to make, so games tend to be light on body slider options.

There are problems with this, for example with big tits you have stretched polygons and high UV distortion around the chest area. Your arms may start clipping with the breasts, and with the hips if you have a hip slider. The amount of change you can make to one mesh without custom topology, skeleton, and animations is limited, unless you are fine with clipping and generally stupid looking characters. Also in general large tits without any sort of bouncing looks ridiculous, and breast physics tend to make certain people mad for some reason.

I remember Sakimichan. I was like, wasn't she the one who made that Mononoke-Hime portrait that was on the top of DeviantArt? I wanted to paint like that for so long, and now she's a porn artist. What a turn of events.

Hey girl,

Aesthetic standards for women's physical appearance may follow societal trends, but are ultimately subjective and based on individual preference. Furthermore, fixating on physical features which the vast majority of women will never display without extensive surgery as the only determinants of whether someone can be physically attractive (as opposed to merely an issue of personal taste, which admittedly we all have) is indicative of a mindset which is incapable of perceiving women's value as anything other than literal objects which don't even exist for real aesthetic or sexual enjoyment so much as they symbolise the attainment and literal possession of a valuable commodity in a competitive economy where only the opinions of men matter.

Seriously though, I think it's interesting that your different "types" for both sexes revolve completely around body type, and that in both cases you assume a linear equation of "hotness" with particular body types as represented by celebrities and models. Like, do you think that's really how those of us who are into men think about men and about sexual fantasies? If so, and assuming you're male, I have to ask.. are you happy? Because that kind of attitude might really mess with someone's view of their own body..
