I am a big fan of single player RPGs, but for a while I got sucked into WoW and every so often I will go back to play it for about a month with a few friends before getting bored of it again. None the less with the vast lore Blizzard has created for this game and its mass appeal I think they should get thinking about making a new Warcraft game from a different genre.

Warcraft III was an excellent RTS and commanding the hero characters was were all the fun was (think of DotA). So why not make a game like Bauldrs Gate or Icewind Dale, where the player can create a part of up to 5 heros from the available classes, each with their own unique abilites (which are already present in the MMO), to go storming through dungeons and participate in large battles. I think that would be quite awesome.

But I don't blame Blizzard for sticking to their business model of taking their time to make 1 or 2 excellent games instead of churning out piles of garbage (think EA). Still I think they could make a game in this style without it eating into their WoW profits. Until they take the time to fulfill my personal dreams of games I would like to play I guess I will just have to wait for Dragon Age to come out.

So basically I just wanted to express my idea and hear some of your opinions on it.

A Warcraft game in the vein of a single-player Bioware RPG would be my dream game.

I always thought it would be great to play alongside the events of Warcraft III and following. I had actually thought up a very broad story concept for the game, wherein you'd play a designated, written (but still customizable to a degree) Human general, who, with a multi-racial party, tries to get the races of Azeroth (namely, the Orcs and Humans) to stop fighting and gather their forces to fight the Scourge.

So yes, a 100+ hour roleplaying epic based off of Warcraft would be awesome.

Yea it would be nice to see blizzard stretch the creative juices again. like maybe another Blackthorne ^_^ which will never happen... however theres a flaw here. BILIZZARD DOESN"T HAVE TO. They can ride the WoW wave for as long as they want unfortunatley. From a business and or financial perspective they have no reason to go into new major game development or even another MMO. Cause really it would only hurt the WoW community. But then again....so what if they lose a million subscribers. "Quality" over quantity. Though i am really surprised that another warcraft RTS hasn't emerged from all this wow stuff.

DotA wasnt fun at all....

And Warcraft version of Baldurs Gate is WoW.
You have a point there is only a little difference between the two.
No. It's called Ultima Online. Although even that has a less cohesive interface than Baldur's Gate. But graphically they're quite similar.

I miss isometric games ;__;
