well as the title states, what would the world look like if the never was or is religion (and yes i got this idea from family guy 801) and without the 1000 years of scientific suppression? (i know all credit for this idea to family guy) but still what is your opinion...

Not that different, although more focus on the earlier arts during the Middle Ages.

Eh, that's all I can think of. Also, less excuses for wars.

Without it its possible we could get less done becuase of the existential void we would have to face. It could lower prductivity. Relgion is what keeps many people moving forward and motivated to do good. Whether thats selfish or not is another topic alltogther.

Off topic: Yay for 300. A good movie and post count.

Edit: but my servbot still looks sad. He can use his faith to feel happy again.

Would be the same, because religions themselves dont cause wars, abusing the ideals does.

I was actually tempted to make reference to same said family guy, but decided against it, merely to find it is the reason for the thread itself.

Anyways it would be kind of pointless, with nothing afterwards. Those who don't believe in religion already would be fine in said alteration, but those wth religion might not fair so well considering that they are the people who feel they need a reason to life.

You ask, I answer.

What would the world look like without religion...? Severely overpopulated, I'd say.

Hopefully without talking otters and wars over acronyms.

cookie for reference.
South Park, Go God Go. Cartman can't wait for his Wii.

OT: I really doubt the world would be that much different. People will war with one another for nearly anything.

Genocides that happened 3/4 of which probably wouldn't have happened.
Hitler not nearly as powerful.
Great architectural, artisitc, and scientific achievements to glorify god probably wouldn't be built.
Great architechural, artisitc, and scientific achievments would probably have happened sooner or come about.( it works both ways if i'm looking at history the right way.
Wars of the ages would be decreased.
Less charity in the world and morals possibly.
and.... fps's uncensored in Germany and playboy for any age in America.

that seems.... fair with a neutral swing in all but i could be wrong.

the credit should go to John Lennon.
ok that to i am just trying to avoid any form of plagiarism but still your view..
lol, plagiarism.. I'm not sure that really means what you think it means.

Noone is going to accuse you of "plagiarizing" John Lennon or Family Guy by asking a pretty basic question.

Religion represents hope to a lot of people. You take away religion, people would lose hope.

Besides, it wouldn't change anything in the world. People would still discriminate against each other for trival reasons. Racism, Sexism and Homophobia would still exist, and without religious organisations we would have no Pope making stupid statements.

South park, I think. Can I have a cookie for trying at least.

Also to answer the OP's post.

The world will have less to fight about but a lot more to pay attention to.

Science was dead in the west during the dark ages. The islamic world was the center of learning during this period. So as fun as it is to rag on christianity for causing the dark ages, its not really accurate.

And this is coming from an athiest scientist.
