Ah, The Escapist. My fantastic go-to sight for new ideas, thoughts, and an honest rebuttal from people like me.
Anyways, here's my idea- it's been done before, but it could be good for me as a person and an artist: I'm in a band, but we always have trouble deciding what to do, and directions to take it, so here's what I'm thinking for a new direction- Viral. What if we simply took requests from other Youtube users, songs of all genres, and put our own spin on them?
Thoughts, opinions, and suggestions, please and thank you!

Everybody uses Youtube now a days. You will be very lucky if you get famous, and even luckier if it lasts more than 15 minutes.

Sure, if you want to. It kind of boxes you in creatively though, and most of your requests will be idiotic attempts at humor if you're taking requests directly from Youtube users. Still, it would be an interesting project.

Hate to shit on your dreams, but you can be near infinitely talented and still not hit it big.

Example?

Techno god, and only has MAYBE tops 3k views for song.

Also you have to consider this. Do you REALLY want the users of Youtube giving you ideas?

I think not.

Ask yourself this, DO YOU REALLY UR WORK ON YOUTUBE??? Such a stain can never be removed...

But in all seriousness, a good band is a humble band. Don't look to the internet in order to get recognized, because like everything on the internet, you're only guaranteed 15 minutes of fame before you fade into obscurity. Just play music, and if you're any good, you'll get recognized.

Yahtzee had the best description of YouTube on his final YouTube video.

If I were in a band, I'd try a lot of things, YouTube being one. Do NOT use it as a crutch, or as a main focus.

If you TRY and make a viral video, it's not going to be a viral video.

As a group, have a band discussion. Look deep inside yourselves, and ask "why are we making music? What do we have to offer the world that no other band has?"

Then make a decision based on what you come up with. Good luck with that.
