They've been trying to do this for a long time, actually. The tech's not quite there yet, but it's certainly feasible and it's useful as hell. If they have an elevator, they won't have to shoot rockets into space anymore.

You know those absurdly long retractable doggy-leashes? Here's a stunt I'm proposing.

1. Tie one end of the leash onto a flagpole in Calais, France.
2. Pull the handle part of the leash to Dover, England (on a boat)
3. Secure the retracting part of the leash with a clip in France once the handle reaches Dover. Set up a large mattress in front of the pole securing the leash.
4. Get a guy in swim-gear and water-skiis to hold the leash.
5. Release the leash.
