I have not finished the game yet; I love it so far. But I want to talk about the sequence 3 twist.

When you find out that Connor's dad is the Templar grandmaster

This threw me for a loop. I questioned everything I had done in the game up to that point. I felt like a traitor. And then I realized that AC3 brought back the question of who really is better in the series, the Templars or the Assassins? I found myself feeling I felt more in common with the Templar than the Assassins; I tend to prefer order to chaos. Also so far (I'm at sequence 9) I'm finding Haytham is a MUCH more likeable character than Connor, who tends to be hot headed and extremely rash.

So I'm wondering, what did you guys think of this point in the game? Were you surprised? Not surprised? Did you question your actions? Discuss!

I think that the Templars of the time were far more agreeable than any other time periods version. In the old days of Altair there were the middle eastern guys that wanted to rule everybody for their own gain, nothing more to it. In Ezio's time they wanted to use the power of the pope's staff to control everyone and in Desmonds time we have a bunch of scientists that want to shoot a satellite into orbit with an Apple of Eden on board and use it to control ALL the minds.

At least in Haythem's crew they were after order and control with abit of restraint, they didn't want to control everyone for their own sake, they felt that order was the only way that the world would progress. I find I agree with Haythem's doctrine far more than any other templar and without him at the wheel things fell back into back room deals and secret police that always follow an Illuminated conspiracy. :S
