i myself am admittedly an "achievement whore," after i complete a game i shoot for achievements at any chance i get. i know some people who just play the game and if they get an achievement then thats that, then i know some people who stress over getting the achievments after they complete it (me being one of them)

who out there is an "achievement whore?"

I try to get achievements I find amusing or that I think would be fun to do, if I can't do them I don't stress about it, although they tend to be easy.

I love getting hard achievements by mistake though, I once got the Sharpshooter achievement on Fable II while pissing about. (Shoot three enemys with one bullet, basically).

If I enjoy the game, I'll go for the achievements. But some "achievements" are just exercises in tedium. For instance, I loved Assassin's Creed (well, most of it), but I wasn't about to collect 500 different flags for a couple useless gamer points. On the other hand, the Mass Effect achievements give you in-game bonuses, so I have 100% completition on that game. In my opinion, more dev teams should make the achievements give actual bonuses, and then I'll actually go after them. Otherwise, I don't stress achievements.

I loved it when they introduced the Achievement system to WoW, ever since I started doing everything I can, basicly because the game itself becomes quite boring but I still play it with friends and the Achievement system just keeps me there so I'd have something to do. I try to find out asap the most hardcore ones so I could be noted on my server, like the server 1st....... achievement ^_ ^, i got the cooking one. + I'm half way to the Insane to the membrane one.

I do too. Especially since I got my GS back to 5s and 0s. If a game has odd numbered achievements I won't play it at all (like Watchmen).

Oh and we are now called achievement addicts. Gotta be politically correct and all.

Me, unfortunately. Some of the achievements actually have to do with skill though (like a lot of the ones in Arkham Asylum), so those I care about more than others.

I'm becoming one. Recently I found myself playing through Mass Effect to just get one achievement. :/

Guilty as charged, here. Though I'm trying not to stress about it as much as I used to.

But it's so hard.

That reminds me. The 150 Gamer Score for completing Halo 3 on Normal. Heroic and Legendary EACH must be amazing considering if you complete the game on Legendary you also get the other two achievements.

150 x 3.

I'm on my way. I've only had my 360 for a few days and I'm already obsessed with my Gamer score :z When PC games were my main source I never really noticed, but now it's getting compulsive.

I enjoy getting them, but the main one I've tried for was 'Vanilla Crazy Cake' on Portal for completing the challenges, simply for the name.

I'm an achievement whore in the sense that I do this, and also get ticked off when a game has truly shitty achievements (like Guitar Hero 3, etc.)...

...but I'm not an achievement whore in the sense that I wouldn't buy/rent/play a game for an easy few GP (Avatar, any '06 sports game, etc.).

Most games have stackable difficulty achievements nowadays. Man the older ones that don't are a brute. EDF 2017 has 5 difficulties and you have to play each difficulty for them. It sucks.

I think you may have misunderstood though. I mean achievements like "do this action for 13 points" instead of the nice round 10 or 15 points.

I guess I am. I don't go to pieces if I don't get an achievement but if I can get one that's fairly simple and fun, I'll get it.

Not really, I play the game through and whatever achievements I unlock on the way (either through inevitability or accident) I get. I'll then look through the achievements for the first time after I've finished the game and play again, trying to get as many.

It's just for the replayability, don't mind if they're there or not (when I'm playing on my PC which is the majority of the time).
