An act of god is something like a thunderstorm, a hurricane, a flood, an earthquake, a blizzard, an alien invasion, the plague, etc. Any natural phenomena that's bad is an act of god.

That's a standard disclaimer referring to events beyond the control of anyone. For instance, a flood or a lighting strike. It's just there so that people can't sue the company/organization for ridiculous things that no one could see coming.
