You're speaking for the entirety of the escapist website when you only have your experience to go by. You early argued that because someone hadn't been to your school they had no idea how you compared to other teenagers. Cool conflicting arguments there.
Both the Escapist and my school are isolated communities. Both of which I happen to be a part of. The people on the Escapist aren't the exact same as the people on other sites, just as the kids in my school aren't the exact same as the kids in other schools. Your point makes no sense.

I'd say that holding down a job, earning enough to support and pay for yourself and being able to afford luxuries as extravagant as two cars imply a certain amount of maturity, yes. Are you saying that an immature person would be able to keep a job and sustain himself as well as this guy has done?
Immaturity doesn't prevent you from leading a normal life. It's not a handicap - don't treat it as such.

Also, stop with sarcastic finger quotes with "Logical fallacies" and "Adults" (which didn't even need quotes, they ARE legally adults). It's immature.
Actually, they're called quote marks. They indicate when I'm quoting something someone else has said. "Logical fallacies" is a term you used, not me. I didn't even know what fallacies were until I looked it up.
And yes, when I said "adults", I was doing it out of sarcasm. I was questioning their own maturity, as I did throughout my post. I like to be consistent.

Heh... how ironic, the person who got suspended for threatening to rip someone's intestines out for being immature and telling you to stop interrupting class for those that actually want to learn. That's not funny... that's fucking hilarious.
OT: Most people here are in their teens, or, act like they should be in their teens.
You know what.....FUCK ALL OF THIS.
What? I just found it hilarious.
I've been constantly flamed for that post!
Now you listen, in the thread you are refering to that guy was constantly flaming me like what's happening to me in this thread which is why I got angry and put that edit there.
And the reason I gave the teacher shit was because I was pissed off at something that happened earlier thar morning!
So you make someone else miserable for something that happened to you? And you WONDER why you get flamed?
I agree, and I am pretty sure that if you do that, you are one of the most immature bastards that a person can think of. this is why you get flamed.

You have no idea the shit I have to put up with in real life.
Yes I unleash my anger at the wrong time and to the wrong people but will you please just leave me the hell alone!
...really? really? you have a hard life? This isn't me but, answer me this, so the adults that are in their 30's, have 2 kids, Jobs, taxes to do, make sure their house doesn't get taken away, had to give up being a kid to take on huge responsibilities, suddenly tremble beneath your feet because you have a "hard life"?

I'm new here and have only been posting for a few days. Today I checked out a few profiles and noticed most of the people here are in their teens. Now I'm starting to feel like a weirdo for being here. Are there any grown-ups here? (By grown-up I mean independent, living apart from your parents, credit cards, keys, the whole shebang.)
Ha! I've noticed this too. This site should be pretty interesting over the next 4 years with all the coming of age tales bound to crop up. My first clue was from a "where were you on 9/11/01" thread, where all but a few members were "in school."

It's ok though. People have a tendency to get boring when they get old. All they want to do is get married and have babies and not spend time with their friends who refuse to get married and have babies. Granted you get to be the cool "uncle" who gets the best presents because he doesn't have to spend money on brats of his own- but it's a lonely life.

This thread's ancient and has basically turned into some sort of war between the adults and the teenagers. Mainly because the adults (yourself included) seem to have nothing better to do than bully people younger than them to make themselves feel important.

Please, take your badly phrased posts elsewhere and stop your whining - nobody cares.

You misunderstand.
You argued earlier that as a different person hadn't been to your school, they had no idea how you compared to the rest of your classmates.
However, you later said that people on the escapist can't notice the difference between kids and adults, something that you couldn't prove in a thousand years.
Essentially you say that as someone doesn't know, they can't comment, then say that you know something as outlandish as the thoughts of the entire escapist community.

No, but it makes it harder. Would you want an immature person working for you?

Also, stop with sarcastic finger quotes with "Logical fallacies" and "Adults" (which didn't even need quotes, they ARE legally adults). It's immature.

Pretentiousness. There's another term to look up.

20, live away from parents, don't believe in credit cards (maybe I will when I actually have money), car keys/house keys. Still won't be paid for what I do for another three years though (medical student just starting 3rd year).

But in this region I am a gaming gamer.

Mercy!

well 19 counts as Adult in Australia so yes, there's a plenty to go around. As for "teen being mature" thing, It's a double edged sword for me: I was far more mature then my fellow peers but when it came to those who were older (that weren't 25 year old hicks trying to get young women and act like 12 year olds in my area) then me, I was defently (bugger that word, Firefox wont fix it) put to shame. 'course, I can still act immature when I want, like playing Garry's Mod drunk at a LAN; oh, the failed things we build...

21. These kind of things don't matter though.

"Adult Escapists"
turning into
"How to define an adult"

Saw that coming.

There a a few adults here but I would not worry about it. I do not think that age is a very important factor on this website.

Sometimes the teenagers yell at my for saying silly things about games...I just can`t keep up anymore...I suppose it is important to be right when you are young.

Most people are very pleasent though, and others can be unpleasent, regardless of age.

Sooooo, if you've graduated College but are unable to find employment and therefore are living with your family because, well, that's what you can afford, you're not an adult?

So I guess I should go be a hobo and my sister should take her child and find a place to live that, well, sucks and basically cancel pre-school for my niece since all the bills would go to a place to live.

Guess involuntary unemployment is just one of those childish things I need to grow out of!

On topic, I'm 24 and consider myself an adult. I'm not happy having to live at home, but honestly, I'll probably stick around for a while after I find one simply because it would make paying off loans and other crap easier so I could save up for a better place to live. The concept that independence makes you an adult is, in fact, a childish one. So go original poster!
I'm in the same boat and the same age. Its not that I dont want to be independent its just not financially feasible. In all honesty I look to be working nights at Mcdonalds when I'm through with school just to pay back my loans.

ATTENTION "ADULTS"

Do I have your attention? Good.

Do you lot realise how many of you "adults" have flamed/laughed at Demented Teddy for claiming that we teenagers on here are maturer than the average teenager?
Do you think we'd still be here if we weren't? No, we'd be banned with the trolls and other idiots.

You mightn't have noticed, but when you read someone's post on these forums, you can't tell whether they are a teenager or an adult. And if we aren't mature, what does that say about the adults? You lot must be as immature as you claim WE are.

And believe me, you're showing it.

Delicious irony. Nice work.
