Hello there I have been considering getting Blood Bowl on PC but in two minds about it.

I know its has mixed reviews but a games workshop player blood bowl is the game I never got to play. I gather Blood bowl on PC more or less recreates the game dice and all Which is good for me. However the game is still £30 on steam which seems pricey. So its value depends a lot on how good its multi-player community is etc.

So any escapists played the game and any advice on its value and is it worth a buy?

I played it. You have to have a very good understanding of rules, and Warhammer. It was a little tricky for me when I played it... but I liked it. (Pissed me off at times though).

I've bought it because in my opinion Blood Bowl is the best thing Games Workshop has ever made (along with Talisman, maybe), but it's hard to recommend the game to others.

The AI is pathetic if you're a halfway competent player (I've never even come close to losing on the highest difficulty), two-thirds of the races are missing (there's only 7 out of 21), the online community is very hit and miss (you'll have good matches, but there's also a lot of quitters and whiners), the commentary is so repetitive you'll remember at least half of the total lines after one or two matches (and while they're pretty funny the first or second time, they're just annoying after that), Cyanide isn't exactly doing a great job of keeping in touch with the players (or the game itself, for that matter), etc...

If you're a hardcore Blood Bowl fan, you have to buy this game, because you'll most probably enjoy it. If not... Eh, I want to recommend it, but I have to be honest and tell you to rent it or something, because I can't guarantee that you'll like it.

I recommend you check out fumbbl instead, it's free. It's not as pretty, but better in every other way. It's a java application that lets you play blood bowl with other people over the internet, they have tons of options, leagues and whatever you wish. It's also constantly updated with the living rulebook.

Has FUMBBL ever been updated? I thought they were still stuck at LRB4. I haven't visited that place in forever, but when I stopped playing even the LRB5 was just a wishful dream.

I got it for the PSP, and I'll be honest - the lack of '...did you know?' on the loading screen killed it for me. Hell, if I made a Blood Bowl game, my first question as designer would be "how do we shoehorn in more '...did you know?' jokes into this game?

Apart from that, it's a fairly accurate recreation of the tabletop game, but it's worth trying to find/play the tabletop game a few times, what with it being cheaper.

Throw in Space Hulk (the new one, mind) and you've got yourself someone who completely agrees!

Honestly I haven't been there in ages either, but when I was it was fully updated.
