What do you want to happen after Mass Effect 3 is out and everyone beats it and is aching for the next adventure in Bioware's Space Opera series?

Would you like to see the series retired? Have it take a break? Get a new game?

Me personally I'd like to see another RPG, but instead of Shepard you play as the species of your choice and you have some objective, maybe you become another spectre... you don't have to save the galaxy, but cruising around as a Turian Space Cop, righting wrongs and pumping high velocity rounds into the heads of bad guys, that'd be cool.

Hmm, I think basically what I'm looking for is The Elder Scrolls: Mass Effect.
I would say that my idea is closer to an MMO, but I personally would like to play an "open galaxy" game where other players don't get in my way and muck up my fun. (Very antisocial)

Sheppard's story should be retired, or at least take a break.
The universe though is so well crafted and realized that is would be a crime to retire it. There are many many stories that can be told in the setting of the mass effect universe.
I would actually love to see a game where you play as a trader setting up an empire in council space. (vega strike with better graphics and combat)

I don't think doing the same sort of thing as an alien would be a very good idea, it wouldn't really be bad, just the same thing in disguise.

That part however sounds cool, made me think of some sort of Stalker style game in the Mass Effect universe for a sec.
And it was awesome.

Shepard is going away as the PC, probably, but I expect BioWare will revisit the ME universe sometime in the future. When, I can't say, but they've spent so much time detailing it that it would be a waste not to make more games set in it.

I'd enjoy continuing the universe. Perhaps working as a colonist, there's very few games out there these days that have you lead colonies...>.>

Two things I'd love:
-Being a fleet commander. Human or turian.
-Being a quarian on his or her pilgrimage.

The release a mediocre RTS game, followed by a tale of normal people who paralleled Shepard's own story, then a prequel telling of the human's earlier forays into space travel.

Then they call it quits for the franchise and start working on the next Oni, or Marathon, or whatever.

I see what you did there

No more Mass Effect. I want other, new IPs. Maybe a spy game that actually has good combat, or a singleplayer KotOR (lol).

Being a young Krogun from Rexxs Clan and fighting in the Raichni Wars and then later facing the genophage during the Krogun Rebellions.

But there would be the issue of the fact most Krogun have a limited emotional spectrum. Might not make the best plot.

Yes, there is some really good fiction and there is room for so much more. Galactic threats don't have to end with the Reapers. Like in Babylon 5 and Star Trek, there's always something else out there.

No more Shepard or anyone in his party.

I saw someone suggesting a 'quarian on Piligrimage' idea which I think would be very cool.

My other ideas would be Lara Croft, IN SPACE! Basically you go Prothean artifact hunting across the galaxy, it would give them a chance to expand on both the galaxy, the unexplored planets thing they tried, and the prothean backstory.

Or I want to be Han Solo. I want to smuggle stuff, avoid law enforcement and other bad guys, and I want to get to choose what I want to smuggle. So I can refuse to smuggle objectionable things, and maybe even choose to destroy the crime boss' operation.

Overall though, what I really want is a really, really, really open world game, the likes of which have never been seen, where you can do whatever you want. You could just join C-Sec and work your way up to Sector Commander, dealing with scandals, political intrigue, bargain basement crime boss' and everything in between. Or you could join the Alliance, and defend colonies from slavers on the rim worlds. Or you could join the Fleet and become an admiral. Or you could be a smuggler. Or any and every suggestion anyone makes, all in one game.

I want a game which lets you explore every possible thing that could happen in the Mass Effect universe. Unfortunately, this is basicaly impossible.

That's like my idea, and I'm with you on it. Mass Effect is a universe where you just kinda want to live as a normal guy in it. Infinite possibilities abound, and that idea is mostly impossible outside of an MMORPG, unless it was some sort of Space Oblivion on steroids.
If anyone could pull off something like that, it would be Bioware and Mass Effect is a universe where that would fit nicely.

Bioware and Bethesda need to put their heads together.

Then again, as long as Bioware doesn't go all "Bungie Syndrome," I can't really complain.

(Any other "B" name-dropping? No?)

It doesn't want to miss out on this Mass Effect cash cow.

Pity there isn't a "Like" button.

As long as I can play with the Bop-It in-game during my interstellar travels, I'm good. Think about the marketing, the possible profits... And who wouldn't want to play a game like Bop-It in a video game?

...What? Off-topic? Nah.

Just hopefully they don't pull a Blizzard with their release schedule.

OT: Sounds great actually. I'd love a game like that. Doubt it'd be anything other then an MMO though. I'd play it though.

I would like to see Shepard's story retired (or given a rest, depends on the handling), but I want more Mass Effect. Games... I love the serious rpg (like those multiple choice books/online games) where you can be whatever and do whatever idea, or First Contact war... but honestly? As much as I'd like a new game, I'd enjoy further novels even more. Especially if they focused more on other races- I'd love to know more about batarians, or drell and hanar, or elcor. More about the interspecies plays, Citadel life, Aria's history and how she took over Omega, quarians before the geth uprising! It's so rich, there's no way they can end it at three games/books/some comics, I can easily see this going for another half decade or so before it gets stale.

... -coughs- Well, yeah. I really hope that this is just the surface of the Mass Effect universe, and we get more of interactive and literary media in the future.
