Many of you will have heard about this story from last year:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8303126.stm
For those who can't be bothered to read the article, the BBC was able to register a cat with a fake qualification as a registered hypnotherapist with three hypnotherapy organizations.
I've seen a person who was apparently hypnotized, but that was Richard Hammond on Top Gear when well-known Hypno-Toad impersonator Paul McKenna was on, and I don't trust that he wasn't just being a paid actor. I also once saw Paul McKenna on the QVC shopping channel when I was flicking through...I turned off VERY quickly. My personal opinion is that hypnotists better than psychics in terms of veracity, but not by much.
Anyway.
The point of this thread is, do you believe hypnosis works? Have you ever been hypnotized/hypnotized someone else? Would you ever consider hypnotherapy? Has your opinion of hypnotists been damaged by that article?
Obey the Hypno-Toad and discuss.
