Just make sure you've got enough food to keep you energized and some caffeine couldn't hurt either.

Without the use of caffeinated beverages?
Willpower alone is enough to do it for me.

I would often have to pull all-nighters towards the end of school last year, so I constantly re-assured myself of how utterly screwed I would be if I fell asleep, and that did the trick.

Music might help too. Something that gets you active in particular.

LOADS, absolute LOADS of caffeine.

If you stop drinking to keep up your energy high, you will fail.

Did I mention that you will be requiring LOADS of it?

Something that stimulates your brain. Conversation, video games, an engaging movie, etc. Caffeine and food helps too. Your tiredness will come in waves - quite often you only have to stay awake for a few minutes and you'll feel ok again.

Since I don't bother with caffeine and so on, if I want to be perfectly functional the next day, I take a nap first. An hour and a half, typically. I will then be sleepy, but not a zombie.

I've also done 80-hour days with no time for a nap, but that was out of necessity.

I've got to get a train to work then stay there for like 5 hours.
due to lack of money until the end of work i cant get anything decent to eat or drink.
So willpower sounds like a plan at the moment.

1. Five Hour Energy. That stuff is awesome, and at least for myself and friends that use it, the claims are right. You don't get the same crash as you do with caffeine. As it starts to wear off, you just gradually grow tired as you naturally do.

2. Caffeine. Avoid energy drinks though, as those can cause significant health problems if you consume too much.

3. Eat a good breakfast with healthy carbs. Grab something whole grain. A little fruit. A solid start to give you energy will help a lot. Keep snack bars (the healthy kind) in your pocket.

4. Keep moving. Sitting still will kill you. Even at work, stand up and stretch if you have a desk job.

Ummm, man up?! Personally caffeine and sugary food/drink aren't good in my opinion. Unless you keep consuming them you'll just crash. Your best bet is to make sure you eat decent food (complex carbs etc) so you have a sustained energy source.

Plenty of caffeine, and stay busy. Believe me, I know how to pull an all-nighter, I'm doing one now. I've had to pull them because of coursework before, and just pulled them to see if I could (the first one I did was like that).

Right now, it's just past 6am in the UK. I got up really late yesterday afternoon (just because my sleep cycle has been off for ages, to the point my studies at university are starting to slip). I had work at 6pm until 10pm, and my manager asked if I could do some extra hours today from 8am until 5pm, a full day shift (I work in a supermarket). Like an idiot, and because I need the money, I agreed to it. However, with my bad sleep patterns now if I'd gone to sleep when I got home I'd have missed most of the morning and thus most of my shift. So I decided to pull an all-nighter, do the shift, and then get an early night tonight and thus hopefully flip my sleep cycle right the way around and get back into a normal pattern.

So tonight I've basically been on my laptop all night reading webcomics and Escapist posts, and drinking coffee and tea all night (though I've stopped that now after running out of milk...). I have a weird thing about me that I don't feel as tired if I'm keeping my mind active by doing something productive, I just knuckle down and do it no matter how repetitive or menial the task is. So I should be able to get through my shift at work without any major problems. But yeah, make sure you keep your mind focused and active on something, that will stop you from getting as tired. And as I say, lots of caffeine, and energy drinks. Try loads of coffee or Lucozade, that should help you out. Just be prepared to fall asleep quickly and deeply when you finally do go to bed, and to be getting a longer sleep than usual as well.

you can do what I do, which is purge myself of all feeling and emotion "if I can't feel, I can't feel tired, if I don't feel tired, I don't sleep" this works, for me at least, though you will seem like a cold, emotionless, automaton bastard to everyone.
on second thought, maybe I need help...

I can't help you in terms of staying up today, but for longterm awakeness, try to train your body to only require about 2 hours of sleep, this can be accomplished without feeling like crap because eventually your body will go into the restful state of REM sleep at a much faster rate. I've inadvertantly done this because I screwed up my sleep cycle horribly.

I guess for short term awakeness, make sure you maintain a healthy diet today, eat lots of energy giving food, and drink an insane amount of coffee.

Stay active, stay fueled with food and liquid (caffeine can help, but it isn't necessary), and get some sun. Sunlight can play a big role in how awake or tired you feel throughout the day.
