This was brought up in another thread elsewhere. The gist of the post was talking about alternative conflict resolution methods in video games.
Hmmm lets see.
Toad: Secretary of Labor
Luigi: Attorney General
Mario: Surgeon General
Donkey Kong: Secretary of Defense
Yoshi: Running the Department of Transportation
Princess Peach: Running the Department of Energy
First you have to provide police, fire and rescue, fix up the infrastructure, encourage business (small and large) to create new jobs, curb the spending of your own government while still providing your people with affordable services like public education, health care, national defense and more. All of this while your facing stiff, almost ludicrously rabid, opposition from elements of your own nation that would rather maintain the status quo than actually fix anything.
It could work as a game, but I would rather chew tacks than wade through that political mire.
Still, if you really had the option in any game or series of games (Mario, Zelda, Final Fantasy, KOTOR) what alternatives to combat would you employ to resolve the problem?
And could you make a fun game out of it?
Sim Koopaland, where the Mario series characters acts as advisors to Bowser as he attempts to institute sweeping reforms for the betterment of his people?Like it's a shame that Mario never does anything to combat the underlying socio-economic factors that drive ordinary koopas into joining Bowsers army in the first place.
