My girlfriend recently told me that she wanted to change her style to a more "saucy" one. This includes more low cut tops, skinnier pants, and just tighter garments in general. She asked me for my thoughts and I told her that this would make me look at her in a different light, and her and her friends have jumped down my throat calling me a controlling, freedom stealing dick. Am I in the wrong for disagreeing?

Well, how low/skinny are we talking about? There's a difference between saucy and slutty....

But no, you aren't wrong for disagreeing, from what I can tell.

No. Its not any of our business, but how long have you been with said girl and how "saucy" are we talking?

Yes, you should be hung from the highest oak.
Or, you know, she's just over-reacting.
Probably a nice mix of the both would do.

Depends, If you've said "YOU'RE NNOT GOING TO DO IT", then they're right.

What you need to do is if she asks you again, tell her what you'd think, and then if she starts arguing just tell her she asked[/I] for your honest position.

You said, "make me look at her in a different light," not, "for every inch you take off your skirt I will take a foot off your left leg now make me a sandwich goddammit."

You are not at fault.

I've tried explaining that I think that style wouldn't suit her, and that I love how she dresses now. She keeps going on about how I stifle her freedom, but she complains more about my clothes than I do hers. She asked for my opinion but started getting on my case when I gave it. It's just clothes, I guess my Y chromosome inhibits me from understanding fashion, along with keeping my mouth shut.

Nope, unless you actually told her "No I'm not letting you dress like a slut." other wise she had no right, and I hate friends of girlfriends, all they do is ruin everything.

No. Saying it'd make you think of her differently or even advising against it are fine, so long as you don't actually stop her from doing it.

If that is indeed all you said, then no you're not wrong. I probably would have been a little more vocal in my disapproval. Also bear in mind, she asked.

Alright alright, now serious answer. Of course not. You would, most certainly, "look at her in a different light" (i.e. be more attracted to her and distracted from everything else) if she got even slightly more Stripperific outfit. Duh.

no. Clothes can really chAnge the way you see a person. Important relationship: IGNORE THE FRIENDS. Most of the time, especaially on a girl, the friends will be ready to kill you at a moments notice.

If she asks for your honest opinion she has no right to get mad when you give it to her. Sadly though, this is a concept many women don't understand. If you need proof just look at the whole "Does this make my butt look big?" phenomenon.

unless you actually forbid her from wearing it no, girlfriend's friends are usually really mean to boyfriends whenever they try to tell the truth :/
