I'm sure many of you have fallen to the OCD inducing mining in Minecraft, I'm also sure
that a number of you have also disregarded the ingame music for more fitting music.

Right now I'm looking for non-intrusive Ambient music to play whilst mining. My playlist
thus far sits as follows:
Anthem - Homestuck Vol.5 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H45rAA0ygYs]
Lotus - Homestuck Vol.5 [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8vY_PV_9e8]
Exhibit 13 - Blue Man Group [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMje9XxPlUQ] (The version I use is the 8 minute one)
Life's Things - Mind Things [http://www.jamendo.com/en/track/34406]

I don't play Minecraft, sadly (as I fail at it), but I do play Dwarf Fortress and when the constant repeating guitar riff is getting on me I usually go for some smooth jazz. Sometimes the WoW soundtrack, preferably WotLK and Cataclysm's music. Braid's one as well, it's quite soothing.

In fact, one of the Braid's soundtrack biggest contributors, Shira Kammen, creates wonderful music to play games like Dwarf Fortress and Minecraft on.

Edit:
There's also Samurai Champloo's epic trip-hop tunes:
That stuff is so relaxing.

Wonderful combination, though when I play that song I imagine myself traveling down a straight desert road, sunset behind me with no end in sight, not so much during rain.

RainyMood can also be very well combined with some smooth, slow jazz, or the Braid soundtrack:

Almost anything from the "76:14" and "Pentamerous Metamorphosis" albums by Global Communication might suffice.

As for some samples that fit particularly well with Minecraft:

Hmm, well I should be good at this as I tend to listen to more ambient styles of music. I'll just go ahead and list them:

Sigur Ros - Often pretty calming stuff, I would particularly suggest their 'Untitled' album for ambience.

Pan Spherics - Throwing this out there as a very very unknown band that deserves some respect, long songs that blend well into each other. (And their only current album 'Nebula [http://www.last.fm/music/Pan+Spherics/Nebula]' is completely free!)

Zerova - The clue is in it's genre, Ambient.

Hmm, you know what? Just check out my last.fm profile [http://www.last.fm/user/Ickorus].

Rammstein always works for me, :p
On low volume it isnt intrusive at all. Which is so with most music on this globe anyway.
But that wouldnt be ambient :p
I like GAS a lot, or Agalloch and Ayreon is a good one too

Bitches' Brew is probably my favourite album of his as well, but the two I mentioned are much more relaxed, so they seem more appropriate
