I found this disgusting and revolting. I don't get how these people can even call themselves christians without batting an eye. They need to seriously need to learn into walk in the shoes of others. Jesus christ. I had a family member who died of cancer recently and we spent 50 thousand USD on cancer treatment and that was WITH insurance. How do they expect people who make the average income to pay that?

They expect anyone that gets sick to pray more, and to be rich, or they're just not important.

This is the mentality that the upcoming majority prescribes to. This is the body politic that formulates the policies that affect my life, your life and the lives of all americans. This really DOES have EVERYTHING to do with America as a whole.

sad to say i have family members like that...mindset at least. And as far as healthcare in the US, some of us don't have it because it costs too much or because ya know jobs are limited and its a ***** trying to get employed we have no money for it. And that's not the only reason Ameriica is in shambles. There is numerous reasons to it. That's just one of many.

As some one who supports Ron Paul, I'd say he is by far the most misunderstood and misquoted person alive. His ideas are sound. The unfortunate part in my opinion was the crowds response. Then again i have very strange ides on politics and can not be considered as a normal american.

I have nothing against Ron Paul. I agree with some of his libertarian ideals but I fully disagree with his stance on supporting the health of the nation. I'm not appalled by Ron Paul. I'm appalled by the audience. Ron Paul was put on the spot with a tough question and since you can't say "lemme think about it for a bit" during a debate he gave an answer that fit his party's platform.

And this sort of thing is why most of the rest of the world considers America's right wing (well, their furthest-right wing, the Democrats are to the right as well by the rest of the world's standards) utter scum.

I actually really like Ron Paul and enjoy his ideas. That being said I wouldn't personally want him as the President, but I do believe he has an important voice that should be heard. I think it's important for his ideas to be part of America's national debate.

However, as I am Canadian it's all really a moot point... :D

Yes, a couple idiots making a joke in the audience clearly accounts for the entirety of a country of 300 million.

And, as usual, the media blows it out of proportion. Was the comment in bad taste? Yes. Do you actually think that the audience would want people to die just because they made the mistake of not looking after themselves? Probably not. But for people who didn't actually watch the debate and didn't read the article closely, that's all they're going to think about it. While I don't typically agree with the Tea Party (because, seriously, they've said some stupid shit in the past), it's not exactly fair to any of the candidates that that's all that will be remembered from the debate.

I hate all the people on the GOP ballet right now. Way to fucking ideological. Yes I do lean more to the left but I am always open to both sides, but this is just.. disgusting. The Tea Party is way to ideological and if Obama does get beat by one of these guys then this country is more screwed. If its Rick Perry then I am leaving the country.

This man has a point. Not many countries in the world are looking good at the moment. Regardless of continent.

Allow me to save you all a lot of whining by summing up this entire thread.
Life sucks, People think things that I don't agree with, sprinkle on some of the "No true Scotsmen" logic fallacy, and we're done here.

Edit: Oh I almost forgot about wishing death or bodily harm on the people you don't agree with, you gotta have that.

Many Americans are just as disgusted. Even large news agencies. Don't lump us, a country of 300 million with just one radical political group.

The Tea party is only the vocal group of the normal American Electorate. I am not lying to you when I say that both my hometown and the locals of my college town probably would cheer at the idea of public executions by stoning or hanging returning to this "free and brave" country. In 10 years when you hear about how America now looks like a 1st century theocracy, you'll know this to be the case.

Even more interesting than that article was the third response to the first comment for that article, in which a man commented how he was unable to find health insurance because companies kept denying on the basis of his pre-existing conditions. It reads as follows:

3)John: you can find insurance, you just didn't look hard enough! There are "high risk" pools for people with issues such as yourself. The reason you have touble finding it is because you are very high risk. Why should the tax payers take a loss on your coverage?

This, in my opinion, is what's wrong with America. This overarching philosophy which has (unfortunately) managed to pervade almost the entirety of American society, that being "It's all your fault". If you're poor, it's because you don't work hard enough. If you don't have health insurance, it's because you're not looking hard enough. If your life is in anyway fucked up, this has nothing to do with society, and everything to do with your faults as an individual.

After all, America is the land of opportunity - you can be anything you want in America! The opportunities are limitless, and if you work hard and have the right attitude, this country will be good to you, no matter who you are, or where you're from. Oh, what's that? You don't agree with this sentiment? Well, then you might as well get out! America has no time for you and your lack of patriotism for what is, undeniably, the greatest country on Earth.

The sooner people realise this idea is bullshit, the better off the United States will be.
