American Juggalo

I just finished watching 'American Juggalo', an interesting documentary filmed during "The Gathering of the Juggalos" (an annual four day outdoor concert event similar to Burning Man except devoted to the music and fans of the Insane Clown Posse).

It's pretty short (only about 23 minutes), made up entirely of interviews with self-proclaimed "Juggalos" (extreme fans of ICP) and is very well-produced and truly eye-opening to the world of this eccentric community of disenfranchised individuals.

How exactly DOES embedding work on this site? Hm, could be Vimeo's encryption and HD formatting or something... more likely is I'm retarded. Ah, whatever.

All memes aside, I must say after watching this documentary I felt a legitimate pang of sadness for most of these people where I once dismissed them as ignorant. Truthfully, while the film does more to prove any preconceptions the general public may have of Juggalos than dispel them, I can't help but feel for a lot of these people and ponder what tragedies they've endured to crave a sense of belonging and family as strongly as they do.

Juggalos.. its no different than any other fanboyism. So ask yourself, is that usually a good or a bad thing?

I sort of found/lost interest in them within a span of about 7 months somewhere around 2002-2003 area. Predominantly when they tried to come off all hard core, vile and disgusting, and proceeded to profess their love for God in Thy Unveiling. Not that its a bad thing, just seems like a big conflict of interest.
