Amnesia Dark Descent...Lagging like crazy

So...I just bought Amnesia the dark descent based on a million positive reviews. I downloaded and installed it all gravy but when i went to play it was just lagging amazingly hard, like 3-5 fps.

I had nothing going on in the background and my computer should be more than capable of running it.

I'm downloading a patch for it now thinking it may remedy the problem but its taking a very long time so i thought i would ask my fellow escapions if they had this problem and if so how they overcame it?

Typically i make sure my drivers are up to date. I then google a bit looking for other people with the problem and how they resolved it, and it usually ends up with me modifying the settings somehow until it's mo betta.

Hrm... its hard to say. Ive ran the game on a 1.66 processor in a netbook and ran flawlessly. So likely whatever the issue may be seems like it has got to be a software one.



Drivers do seem like the most likely culprit., beyond that, only thing I can think of might be some sort of infection/registry error that is not allowing it to run properly.

Edit: Perhaps DirectX is also out of date. Or some of the DX features have somehow became disabled.

Do you have an SLI configuration?

I bought Gears of War for the PC ages ago and it should have worked on my SLI Geforce 8600 laptop, but the frame rate was terrible. I disabled one of the cards and the frame rate became fluid.

Hmm, checked my drivers and they are all good, and google yields nothing about the game but praise.

I just downloaded dx11 so hopefully that helps.

I do infact have an sli setup but i need it to play in 5760x1080, though i suppose playing it at a lower res is better than not being able to play it at all.
