So, being a german person who almost exclusively listens to english-speaking artists (just because i'm into classic rock/pop like David Bowie, Beatles, Beach Boys etc.) i just had to wonder what other musicians are out there that i might not have heard of because of my preferences.

So, dear Esacpists show me musicians from "your" country that you are really really into :)

i'll start with one of my favorite songwriters: Gisbert Zu Knyphausen :D

EDIT: dammit, couldnt embed the video for some reason.. so here's the link

You don't include the "v=" in the embed tag.

OT: As being an American, there's not a whole lot I can add to this thread. SO, I'll leave you with some music that most people probably haven't heard before.

Wow, I really have to stop bringing these guys up in these threads. Starting to sound like a broken record.

Hmmmmmm... who else?... alright, any of you ever listen to Bliss N Eso?

I can't think of any artists that I like that would work well for someone who doesn't speak the language.

We do have a lot of Metal though.

The Beatles, David Bowie, The Who, The Clash, (Lots of the's!), Lostprohets, Dizzee Rascal, Muse. Lots of stuff, a lot of electro and Dance and rap too but they are the artists who I know are British.
I like foreign music too, I think I've got a bit or Japanese, Icelandic, Swedish, Spanish, French, German in my iTunes.

Meh, I'm a Brit, so theres not much in the way of outlandish music I can add, but I'll post this song, because it's great and I love it and she's from England. It's not particularly obscure or anything, shes just got a great voice :D

Oh fuck it, I'll post some Joy Division too, just because...

Shihad, Fat Freddy's Drop, Shapeshifter, Dimmer, Rhombus, The Black Seeds, Cairo Knife Fight... the list goes on. If you look further back you get Dragon or Split Enz or Crowded House, (a NZ/Aus thing.) There's a massive NZ music scene, a lot of it good and a lot of it very good, (and definitely some crap.) It rarely gets off our shores though although while travelling I have heard a few tracks.

Rammstein are probably the only German band I can name, but I do love them.

Would it be too bold to call Thin Lizzy the greatest rock band of all time?

At least Tiësto made some good stuff. His Just Be album is quite different from the usual club crap DJ's like him produce. It helps that that album was the soundtrack for the...well, magical holiday to the French Dordogne, an area rich with mystique and mystery. Music like this only helps with that:
*shudder* Traces of antiquity everywhere, ancient villages hewn straight in sheer cliff faces, prehistoric caves with paintings no-one knows the meaning off. Gods I wanna go back...
