It was a car accident, the driver is in hospital critical condition. They warped around a pole. He was only 19. The funeral is tomorrow.

They were both drunk, why do people drink and drive? why do people speed and drink? I can haz hug?

Dude I know how you feel, my cousin just died last Thursday. The funeral was Monday and it was probably the worst thing I've ever went through. I know that it's hard and I know exactly how you feel since I just went through this myself.

Just hang on to the fonder memories and let yourself grieve. Don't bottle it up (unless that's how you choose to grieve) getting closure isn't disrespectful or selfish, it's coming to terms with a person's passing not forgetting them.

I know some guys felt guilty that they weren't crying and whatever, but it's not wrong to react however you need to.

Three of my friends, including my best friend, were killed in a car accident two weeks ago. The day before, I'd gone to a hockey game with him. I didn't think that would be the last time I ever saw him.

Condolences man. You can haz BIG hug!

I dont understand either. The lack of judgement and common sense you have while drunk? Maybe we will never know. Hope my internet hug made you feel a bit better :)

I was helping host a party and had to convince people not to leave the house drunk after arguing with them because they thought they were okay to drive. My condolences.

Sorry to hear that. I can't give you a real hug unfortunately but you can sure have a cyber hug.

When a friend of mine from college died it took me ages to stop hoping I'd still see her walking around the corridors.

They both were drunk? Zeeeeero sympathy. They don't drill 'Drinking and driving is bad' into you because driving is more awesome while drunk.

*Hug*

O.T: Simply put, most people drink and drive because they lack common sense. Not to sound insensitive, but that's really the only thing that makes sense to me.

Congratulations. This was the most inappropriate, childish, disregard for basic human courtesy of a grieving person's death I've seen in a while. You could seriously give those Westboro Baptist Church guys a run for their money.

Honestly, did no filter or lights go off in your head? Maybe a voice saying "this probably isn't a very smart thing to say.

OT: My condolences. It's sad that people don't realize just how dangerous drunk driving is. I've gotten into some big fights with a friend of mine for doing it.

You could get all tear-y eyed and say 'That's so bad! I feel so bad for you OP and it's a shame that somebody died so young!'. But that changes nothing. Take this as a lesson and move on.

Or? We could take you're approach and think "Hmm, what's the most brash thing I can say to someone about someone who just died... OH I KNOW! I'll call the dead people idiots!"

But sure, being sympathetic changes nothing. You're really smart.

My uncle went more-or-less the same way (tree instead of pole and, he wasn't driving...and he was sober I think...I was about 8 at the time). You have my condolences and a hug. I don't know about what's been going on with most of my classmates but I'm pretty sure they're all still alive. I'm also sure many of them are parents at this point but that's on the other end of the spectrum.
