First off, I am a huge fan of the Pokemon games. I've mindlessly bought Diamond, Platinum, and HeartGold without second thought. So this is more of stuff I'd like to see in Black and White. It's not a complete series overhaul or anything, just some recommendations. So, GameFreak,

1). Skip the "How to Catch Pokemon" tutorials by choice.
This is pretty minor, but I've been put through countless "how to"s. Just ask: "Wait, do you already know how to capture Pokemon?"
That's not too hard, right?

2). An open world.
Now, I'm not saying you should go all GTA on us, but throw some events around the region. Like, after you get an HM, a new section of the region opens up. In there, there are small, Pokemon Center-less towns who are, say, under attack by pokemon swarms, all at the level they should be (close to the last gym leader's pokemon's levels). Throw some forks in the road here and there that lead to adventures. Make the world a little larger.

3). A couple rivals.
I like having a rival, and you went the extra mile in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald by adding a second. So how about three? You can have the aggressive one, the long-time friend, and the girl who keep flirting/guy whose always on the run to what you just did? Who took that third pokemon? I've always wondered.

4). Make your own trainer?
This is a little demanding, but It would be cool. You get a choice of maybe clothes or just a handful of trainers. I've always wanted to be me. Heck, everyone has.

5). Get rid of those Nintendo events.
This is personal. Quite so. I want Mew or whoever is showcased in one of your movies, but how about making them secret and hidden? If you make the world larger, make the legendaries hidden in caves or trees. Too many people miss those events. Come one, just ask your fans. They'll say yeah.

So, any suggestions or agreements?

I'd have to agree with you on this. While I haven't completed a Pokemon game in the longest time, these suggestions would definately be a step in the right direction for the series.
Also, less legendaries, please. It's just getting a bit silly at this point.

I fell out with the pokemon series when Ruby/Sapphire was released so as of now I'm still getting used to all the changes. Eevee has more evolutions, WTF?

I have always hated my rival, no need for more than one.
The only good thing about them is the exp. and the surprise they get when I beat them for the 10th time in a row.

When I was a kid I won a Mew at a Nintendo event. That was awesome

Now that I'm an adult I'm sure I couldn't go to one of those with getting some weird looks. So number 5 might be good for people like me who are in their 20s but I did have fun when I went to that one as a kid.

I'm kinda torn on this issue

I suggest keeping Nintendo events, but removing dependence on them. For example, D/P/Pt all have Arceus (who's the Pokemon god) available. All you need is the Azure Flute. For reasons unknown, that's not in the game. Make that available through gameplay, and save event Pokemon for those with weird moves (flying Pikachu).

Make your own Trainer sounds cool. I'd like that. I'd also like to be able to input my own height and weight. It's peculiar to look in the Pokedex and see something like Registeel tower over my character, even though it's shorter than I am.

O completely agree with you on the "Make your own trainer" note, but i disagree on the events, if you cannot get to the event then that's understandable. So i think they should make it so you can get the Pokemon in the game but the event give you like a special attack or something for the Pokemon.

I usually want all the flashy stuff for my games, but Pokemon is probably the one series I wouldn't want to mess with too much to be honest, but that might be because I consider myself a hardcore Pokemon trainer (as in I spend months, even years micro-managing my teams to make the strongest combination possible) and that takes about 90% of my know-how and concentration, anything else tends to be irrelevant stuff I don't want to be made too complicated.

Having said I agree and disagree with some of your points. I'll ellaborate:

Yes, I agree 100%, this gets really annoying for me. I wouldn't mind so much but I do a little trick with a fellow player where I start the game about 5 times so we get all the starting pokemon. You would not believe how annoying this bit makes that.

Not sure I entirely like this idea to be honest. It's nice to have more things happening in a game, however, as a hardcore trainer, this kind of thing would bog down my experience and is pretty pointless. I mean, think of it this way, there would be two reasons to have this. The first is to flesh the world out which, let's face it, unless you made the game an MMO isn't exactly thrilling in the world of Pokemon and the second would be to give you access to pokemon for you to catch, which Nintendo already do.

Having said that, extra areas would be good in little pieces, if only to eliminate the tedious task of experience grinding before each gym.

I sort of agree with your response to "what happened to that third pokemon?" statement, but I think there are better ways of working that into the game than to give you another rival. I think another rival would be overkill in my honest opinion, just chuck a few more trainer battles in the game and I'd be happy.

I really want this. One of the things that makes player versus player battles less appealing is the lack of personalisation. I feel like I'm in a "No, I'M Sparticus!" situation. More personalisation please Nintendo?

I've missed out on Arceus because of incompetent GAME employees, so I agree with this entirely. I get Nintendo want to make these Pokemon special, but people are just resorting to Action Replays. Yeah, great idea Nintendo, you might as well place a massive sticker across the box saying "Please cheat this game". Silliness.

Personally, I think they should have a version with ALL the generations combined, and make it possible to get every pokemon without having to have other types/events/trade.

Whoa, slow down man. This is a Nintendo franchise we're talking about.
All those are great points and I'd love to see those features in the next pokemon entry. But this is Nintendo, and Nintendo franchises evolve about as fast as crocodiles. We'll probably have to wait for another 20 years before those things are added.

When I came into this thread I thought it would be another stupid suggestion thing, such as all the regions in one game, or no more new pokemon, or make it real-time or something stupidl ike that, and I'd have to bring up "Don't fix whats not broken".

I was pleasantly surprised; those are very reasonable and doable ideas. However, this isn't an MMO, so the world can't be TOO large, because it would go from experience grinding to travel grinding.

I just want 3D Pokemon battle fights without getting a crappy version on the consoles. I'll sit through 20 tutorials on how to catch a Pokemon for that.

Let the trainers evolve their Pokemon...

I'm sick of seeing level 45 Machops and level 38 Slowpokes. Christ, if the game would be too hard, then lower the levels. It's just so annoying to always KO the same Pokemon.

I love how in HGSS, they even ask you if you already know how to catch a Pokemon, and when you say "Yes," they show you anyway. Or was that the Pokegear?

I want a longer storyline with at least one of the games. Seriously, in diamond/pearl, you basically screw up Team Galactic's attempts to capture Palkia/Dialga, and they are just gone. Then, it's "Go fight the Elite Four!". I mean, I'm not really asking for a deep and unique one, just at least keep some conflict. Hell, make one like some of the movies if you have to. Sure, having Mew-two pop out and start fucking shit up would be strange, but at least I'd have stuff to do..

And another thing: MAKE ALL THE ORIGINAL POKEMON IN GAME! That just pisses me off so much.

Since I've lost both my GBA and my Pokemon games, I can't do the stupid Pal Park transfer. If they made all the base pokemon in-game, then I could give two-shits less about the live events and the stupid codes. Who needs a fucking Shaymin when I have a level 100 Ninetails?

This is a top idea too. I absolutely loved Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Snap, because I could see my minions moving and fighting, instead of just standing still. It'd be kickass if they could pull off a console version of a pokemon game in 3D.

I agree with all of your statements except for 2 and 3.

2) I dont think an open world would do good. Although I could see that happening for searching those rare pokemon.

3) I like how there are 2 rivals in Ruby, but a 3rd would be overkill, like one poster said above me. As for the 3rd pokemon, I have no idea what to do with it. Maybe the prof. will give it to you as a present for beating the elite four?

I Agree with all of those, especially 5. I don't think there are any of those events in Australia to go to.

And as for the stupid tutorials; I can understand why they are there, we just don't need them. In every Pokémon game I have played I have always caught at least one wild Pokémon before getting to the tutorial.

This is so true. Legendarys are meant to be rare and powerful. There are so many at this stage they aren't special anymore.

I want more story, I'm getting bored of the gym challenge and the gamecube games weren't great.

A pokemon adventure with a real story and partnership with your starter would rock, add some human companions and a team rocket enemy, some depth of character and really intense situations, catching them all is fine but I'd like more intelligent interaction with characters and NPCs

These are all things I've constantly hoped for in Pokemon lol. An open world style RPG Pokemon game, IF DONE WELL, would be game of the year material.
