***Spoiler Alert***
If you haven't read the book or watched the movie, you may be ruining the story for yourself by reading any further

I just returned from the cinema after watching Angels and demons. And i was disappointed. I've read the book, and when i watched the movie i couldn't help but thinking that the deep, deep story i read was almost mocked with this flat, empty movie.

In my view, hardly anything except for the murders, the villian and and the anti-matter is the same.
The wheelchair guy (Have forgotten his name) was supposed to bring Langdon into it. He was also the guy who was supposed to, in the end, expose who was behind the whole anti-matter bombing.
You don't hear the murderers story, his need for sexual satisfaction, and i'm pretty sure he doesn't die from a car bomb in the novel (If i'm wrong correct me)
The main female protagonist (can't even remember her name even though I just watched the movie) is so much standing in the shadow of Langdon, that she hardly participates in the action. She actually is part of the book, while her only job in the movie is complaining about her lab journals getting taken...

All in all i think this movie is so far from the story that it's not even the same.

Anyone agree/disagree with me? Am i just going to much into details or is this movie a total fail?

I haven't seen it yet (and no the villain doesn't die in a car bomb, he gets pushed off a balcony by Langdon :( ).
I'm assuming it's by the same guys who made the Da Vinci Code movie so I'm not surprised that it isn't going to be any good.

Thanks for the warning. I've heard some "reviewers" saying that it's better than The Davinci Code (which I hated very very much). Sounds like this new one is just as bad. I think I'll just avoid it.

I love the book. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVE IT! However, I'm not going to see the movie for a number of reasons:

1. Tom Hanks is ooold
2. No movie could ever live up to the sparkling blue eyed book that enticed my heart! Its physically impossible. So why dissappoint myself?
3. Tom Hanks is OOOOOOLD

The only things cool about the book was the dark matter and those cool brands that could be read upside down, the rest of it was irrelevent.

In the novel, the scientist in the wheel chair (Maximillian Kohler) was, at the end of the book, a good character; and the true bad guy was the Camerlengo (Chamberlain in Italian) of the Roman Church. And the assassin was killed by Langdon, when he threw the assassin of a balcony at Castel Sant'Angelo.

The book was very fun to read, but I haven't seen the movie yet.

Pseudo Off-Topic: I suggest you to put a spoiler warning on the title of the thread.

you cant remember the names and you care enough to complain?

It's been years since I read the book, and I haven't seen the movie, and I know the "wheelchair guy" is Maximilian Kohler, and the woman is Vittoria Vetra

Book to movie adaptations are hard. They almost always suck.. The Da Vinci Code movie was a decent adaptation.. Not perfect, missing a lot of the subtlety, but it was a decent adaptation. I haven't seen A&D, but considering it was made by the same people, I'd imagine it would be similar - a decent adaptation.

If it's not, I know for a fact it won't be as bad as Dreamcatcher, or God Forbid, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy..

I can't remember the names because it's also years since I read it. I'm 16 now, and i read it 4 years ago. At the same time with the rest of the Dan Brown books, and a lot of other books. I remembered most of the book, when i wen't to see the movie, and i'm reading the book again now. Halfway through and I can see how much of it misses or is changed.

***SPOILER***
In the movie the anti-matter is stolen seconds after it was created. Vittoria finds Leonardo Vetra, who hasn't been burn marked. Langdon is contacted by the vatican, who recieved the first ambigram in a letter. And then they bring him into the case. Instead of Maximilian, it's the chief of the sweizerguard that exposed the champerlengo. Also the last Ambigram has been changed. Now it's two keys crossed (symbol for the pobe), but turned upside-down, so it's the sign of Saint Peter. That's how they find the Anti-matter.

He died of Vatican Guard inflicted gunshot wounds.

I really don't understand why any producer would want to turn a mediocre (albeit highly selling) book into a mediocre (albeit highly selling) movie.
Oh wait. I do. Money. Lots and lots of money. Who care about quality when you are at the crest of the largest wave of the flood caused by the money spewed out by sheeple who follow something solely becuase it is controversial?

You know, I really didn't like Angels & Demons as much as I like The Da Vinci Code (books forms). It just didn't seem to have as much legend and lore attached to it. Again, that's my 2CP.
