I don't know if it's just me, but anime-only arcs seem kind of crappy. Story, voice acting, and characters.

For example, right now I'm watching the Bleach Bount arc, and The characters really look half-assed and LAME. Also, the voice acting is a bit weak, even more so (to me the Bleach voice actors aren't too amazing.

Also, I saw some Naruto (don't normally watch it) and it's a bunch of random crap.

Anyone agree? Disagree? Have other examples, or am I just being a whiny b****?

I only watch anime that has an ending (35 episodes max per season 3 season max) like Gungrave for example witch had no fillers and a fairly good story.

Except Outlaw Star, which has the auto-win button.
QFT, Outlaw Star is the Chuck Norris of anime.

But yes. 99.9 percent of all filler episodes tend to suck.

ya FMA is good, but the entire story is different, except at the beginning, and has 1 movie.
I hate fillers so much.

Death Note is the only Anime that managed to hold my attention throughout the entire series. Trigun I liked, but I got bored towards the end.

Filler is the plague of anime based on ongoing manga series. The animation studio can produce cartoons faster than the manga artist can draw comics, which means that eventually the anime studio catches up to the current manga issues and then we are stuck. If it were American TV, the show would go on hiatus and/or we'd get reruns, but no, the Japanese do filler and I think that's a massive mistake. Bleach filler wasn't too bad, but Naruto's filler killed all memory of enjoyment I had from the series and made me stop watching.

the new naruto series is pretty good, and has hit its first filler arc, and accually, in the ways of filler, this one is accually really good

the original naruto series, I lost interest pretty fast when the last 100 or so episodes are mostly filler up to the new naruto series (I think its an exageration, but mostly after saskee runs away is pretty much filler)

Bleach I've completly stopped watching cause even the story is boring as hell in the main arc, never mind how bad the story gets on filler arcs

don't let mainstream animes taint your view towards anime as a whole, cause thats a very short sighted view of things, there are ALOT of GOOD series out there that don't over stay thier welcome like the cash cows like bleach or naruto or sailor moon, or any anime series spanning more then 50 episodes (though one piece keeps me quite entertained all the way up to episode 360 and still going strong though its a series you CAN'T take seriously, its a great comedy/action series)

the animes I like are, and not limited to:
Trigun
Full Metal Alchemist
Full Metal Panic
Full Metal Panic FumaFU
Samaria 7
FLCL
Hellsing
One Piece
.hack//sign
Beck
Cowboy BeeBop (one of my favorites)
Death Note
Gun Grave (not bad)

and a bunch more I can't think of at the moment

so ya don't let a single anime series give you a bad taste for the anime genre in general, don't do what everyone else does and watch sailor moon and then label all other animes as whiny teenage girl cartoons

I'm not sure if this counts as filler but what the hell is the deal with the Spirit bomb from DBZ. It took like 5 episodes for him to charge that thing up only for it to do nothing!

So, what about One Piece? Came back from AX (anime expo) where I learned that not only is one piece into it's like 200th or so episode into the anime, but the manga is i think into volume 50 something and it's apparently only half way done. I saw the anime up to the point where they go to the desert town with crocodile when they first get into the Grand Line. Not a whole lot of fillers that I found. If anyone else reads the series tell us what you think? I know it's going to be long like DBZ long, but have there been any big fillers?

Also I did like Outlaw Star more than Cowboy Beebop and I am not ashamed to admit it. TAKE THAT Beebop fans!!
its surpassed DBZ already, on its 360th episodes, and no, one piece is not immune to the filler disease, though the series is great fun to watch and always a laugh, like I mentioned above, great comedy/action series, still going strong

Naruto, Bleach?

OP, you're whining about how bad anime is based on THOSE? That isn't anime, it's american audience dogshit wrapped up in japanese ink and packaged as a happy meal with fries and sodomy. What next, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Dragon Ball, and Gundam?

Try some real anime, such as Slayers, Ghost in the Shell, Galaxy Railways, Star Blazers, Martian Successor Nadesico, Maze, Those who Hunt Elves, He is my Master, Pom Poko, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Super Atragon, Venus wars, MD Geist, Genocyber, Patlabor, Dirty Pair Flash, Ninja Scroll, Kite, Mezzo, Armitage the Third, Metropolis, The Cat Returns, My Neighbor Totoro, Blackjack, Wolf's Rain or Zone of the Enders.

Or if you truly seek the americanized or "Pokemon" animes, try something decent like Dragon Drive.

And I don't know how in one post, this managed to go from anime to filler/recap episodes. The OP never mentioned anything like...
accually he did, he mentioned the bount arc in the bleach series which is a filler arc

I hate Naruto, it's so BORING!

Seriously, I think it's like the recipe for Dragon Ball Z, where they spend;
10 episodes fighting,
5 episodes losing,
5 episodes planning on how to win,
10 episodes actually winning,
5 episodes of twists and the bad guy dying, just after he summons another bad guy, and HERE'S the killer;
20 episodes of fillers and random dialogue.

I can't stand it!

Although Avatar: The Last Airbender is not anime, as it's American, I can at least sit through it because they generally stick to one theme per episode, sometimes 2 if it's important (Season-finale type deal).
AND AT LEAST THEY END IT!

I hate it how Japanese Anime shows go on forever, for about 300 episodes, having about 4 crappy movies, and then end, but then have yet ANOTHER series, generally involving the characters' adventures when they were kids, or as adults, depending on the circumstance.

Sorry about the rant, but I needed to get that out of my system.

Naruto? Jesus Christ, what a load of hokum. They took six episodes to kill the first fucking bad guy in the series (that dude with the giant sword and the little sidekick). Six! All they did was stand around telling each other what they were going to do before they actually did it.

Ninja 1: Haha! I have you trapped. Now I shall unleash my super duper technique#1, and thus end your miserable life.

Ninja 2: Well, I shall counter your super-duper technique#1 with my own specially devised technique which just so happens to be perfect for situations like these, which I shall use to crush you!

Ninja 1: Ha! You think that will stop me? I shall counter your counter with my super overpowered pie finger technique, which will cancel out your counter and prove that I am the supreme ninja!

Ninja 2: In that case, I shall use my ultimate ninjutsu technique, wherein I shall rip out your eyes and beat you to death with your own bandana, proving that you are no match for my awesome power.

Naruto: SASUKEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ever considered a job in the anime industry?

As long as you can take an extremely vague and confusing ending (followed by the worst movie of all time), make sure you watch Neon Genesis Evangelion, just one season of 26, straightforward episodes that get more and more f'ed up as time goes by.

Well, of course fillers suck. It's pretty much something the anime directors pull outta their arses to tide over the audience till the source material (manga) can again take a comfortable league. To add to msch's post, I believe 1 anime episode is about the same as 2 and a half , uh, books.

Oh, and the Bount was boring as hell, but not as bad as the Naruto one... geez, it actually is the longest filler segment in history, spanning a whopping 80-episodes of non-stop fillers.
