My favorite anime is Toaru Majutsu no Index, the show really appealed to me and the characters and story actually mean something that I quite honestly like to be in my life.

Some Anime > Most Western Cartoons
Most Books > Most Manga, if not all.

Im going with Anime on this one.

Manga seems to have an easier time knowing when to say when.

Anime drags the story out even after the source material (usually a manga) has long since ended, just to squeeze out a few extra dollars.

I'm tempted to use that argument, but then I'd have to go with the Women=Evil (by virtue of Time is money) proof as well then.

Instead, my response is that Manga is aimed at much wider audiences than anime when it's originally made, it's success is due in part to the fact that it fills a lot more niches than the American mainstream comic market, and anime has much worse fillers than manga, so I'd have to go with those strange black-and-white backwards comics.

However, web comics and old cartoons win hands down.

all tho the Manga is more what the writer first intended
but sometimes the anime changes things example most of D.Gray man s2 just didn't happen in the manga. Then there are the bloody fillers in anime which always suck.
