Anne Hathaway hatred-When and why did this become a thing?

Stumbled across the above link while net surfing. The article is about the different negative opinions leveled at her and a few people attempting to explain the why of it all.

I don't usually have favorites on topics such as actors but for me, knowing Anne Hathaway is in a movie usually piques my interest. Out of the movies I have seen, "Rachel Getting Married" is only one so far I did not care for. She's actually talented and skilled in the things she pursues. She appears to be a decent, grounded person. Also far as I know, she isn't making a fool of herself for public scrutiny on a regular basis. That last part is my favorite, especially since it seems that is the very job requirement of some celebrities. So, why the hatred or rather, annoyance, as the article states?

Dang, really? I've mostly heard people praise her for being awesome, intelligent and down to Earth. She got some particular internet praise after she diplomatically put down Jon Stewart in an interview when he brought up that time a photographer snapped a pic of under her skirt.

Can't say I knew 'Hathahate' was a thing at all.

I can't think of anything she's done wrong, she actually seems alright in interviews. Using my Sherlock Holmes-level powers of deduction, I'd guess that a young, attractive, talented and successful woman is hated out of jealousy.

I haven't seen a great many of her movies, but of what I have seen Les Mis was the only one I really truly hated. And she was only in that for like 20 minutes so it only half-counts.

As far as people hating her, I imagine it's the same kind of thing as Taylor Swift. She does some things that people dislike so they misappropriate their dislike of that thing/character to her personally. In Anna Hathaway's case, it's probably that she does nude and sex scenes quite a bit in her movies and as we all know, sex should never be talked about or seen.

I've seen her be good in things that I liked (Get Smart for example) and I... can't really think of anything really bad about her offhand. Just an actress as far as I'm concerned.

Personally never liked her. Don't like her acting, don't like how she looks.
I was extremely worried she would ruin Dark Knight Rises completely for me, but luckily overhype also works for negativity and it turned out she couldn't live up to the mountain of dread I had for her.
Not that I liked her in the movie or anything, but she didn't completely ruin it.

Other than that I've mostly stayed away from her. Mind you this isn't outright hate or anything, just a general disliking. It happens.

Eh, celebrities, especially women, get a lot of hatred for no good reason. It goes with being a celebrity.

OTOH, it's cyclical, people like forgiving celebs for whatever it is they judged them for.

I've never hated her, I've never even partly disliked her or been slightly annoyed by her. How could I? I don't know her. I've only seen her do her job and I thought she did that pretty well.

(I actually truly hate the way the word hate is used so casually.. hate is supposed to be a term for the most extreme of dislikes)

But everyone seems to hate everything these days. Lots of hate everywhere. Perhaps it's because we've not got anything to really emote against - since life is pretty darned cushy at the moment.



That article just seemed filled with celebrity bitchiness.. Her smile is too perfect? Come on!

The only thing I can think of is "Haters gonna hate". Shes a good actress and hasn't done anything thats an easy target for tabloids and gossip columnists to latch on to so they just make up reasons not to like her.

Maybe she's being hyped since the Oscars?It's the usual reaction to anyone getting into the spotlight for an extended time.Haters gonna hate n all that.
Maybe it's the rap industry,they wanna break her music career before it threatens to steal fans from "talented" rappers such as Lil Wayne.I'm just gonna leave this here.

I didn't know this was a thing either, but i read in the article is that it's not hatred for her for being her per se, it's more hating her because of their own inadequacies or something like that. Like a jealousy thing.

I personally don't have a problem with her, some of the movies she's been in haven't been great, but they're more the sort of movies that weren't cast properly in the first place, or where she's been put into unsuitable roles, or the movie itself was bad and not at fault of the actors in it.

This isn't really a thing. People tried to make it a thing, but it never really turned into a thing. To be more specific, people in the paparazzi made it a thing during the Oscars for some reason, but it never spread farther than that.
