Anonymity Online - what do you think?

I've got a major project to do and I'm looking at the perceptions and prevalence of anonymous communication on the Internet. Seeing as everyone here pretty much uses pseudonyms so you're mostly unidentifiable, I was looking to get some thoughts on the subject! Do you guys think you act differently here on the Escapist than in real life or Facebook chats and the like? Is anonymity mostly a good thing or a bad thing? Have you guys ever tried to hide your identity deliberately with like IP blockers and stuff? Sidenote, if anyone uses 4chan what's your experience on there? I've got an 'official' survey up that if anyone wants to fill in for me that'd be fantastic, but I'm here to get some more discussion based stuff going about the topic!

Ok just a shot in the dark here but whoever was kind enough to fill out my survey from Sweden would you be up to answer some more detailed questions. I have to do something cross-cultural, see, and from what I've heard Sweden has a pretty different attitude to anonymity and information and the like than where I'm from. Just post again or shoot me a message if you somehow see this.
